Development and performance evaluation of an effective dryer for poundo yam flour processing plant
The process of making pounded yam, from yam, Dioscorea spp., which is mostly consumed by people of sub-Sahara region as source of carbohydrate is energy consuming, therefore, the pounded yam flour, commonly called poundo yam, through which pounded yam is

Drying kinetics and model fitting of Lechang taro during hot-air drying process
The drying and drying rate curves of Lechang taro were studied under different hot air temperatures (50, 60, 70, 80, 90 ℃), different hot air rate (1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0 m/s) and different slice thickness (2, 3, 4, 5 mm).

Drying rate and damage to navy beans [PDF]
The effect of drying air temperature and relative humidity on the rate of drying and damage to navy beans was investigated. A thin-layer apparatus was developed to dry beans from an initial moisture content of around 25% to 14% wet basis (w.b.) using ...

Metallic salt deposition on porous particles by dry impregnation in fluidized bed: Effect of drying conditions on metallic nanoparticles distribution [PDF]
In this paper, the fluidized bed dry impregnation of coarse alumina porous particles by a metallic salt, manganese nitrate, is investigated. In this technique the penetration of each drop of metallic solution in the porous solid particle and solvent ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

The physical dimensions and shape of bacterial cells define the surface area available to acquire nutrients and the volume available for synthesizing proteins and DNA. Here, we use computational systems biology to decode the importance of cell geometry as a major determinant of prokaryotic phenotype, including growth rate and metabolic efficiency. This

Mathematical modelling of intermittent drying
Energy efficiency and food quality are two key issues in food drying. In intermittent drying, the moisture diffuses towards the surface during the tempering period, which makes water available on food surface and thus increases the subsequent drying rate.
