Mass spectrometry based identification of AMP‐O‐Tris generated by Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Isolated Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10 generates the noncanonical ATP‐derived product AMP‐O‐Tris while in Tris‐containing buffer as identified via mass spectrometry, revealing relaxed nucleophile selectivity under isolated conditions. These findings suggest that multiprotein Csm complex assembly restricts Cas10 reactivity toward canonical cyclic ...

Microwave and Ultrasound Assisted Rotary Drying of Carrot: Analysis of Process Kinetics and Energy Intensity

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Convective drying is one of the most commonly employed preservation techniques for food. However, the use of high temperatures and extended drying times often leads to a reduction in product quality and increased energy consumption.

Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.

Effect of supplementary cementitious materials on capillary sorption : relation with drying rate and testing time [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The water sorption phenomenon in a cementitious matrix is responsible for the ingress of several deleterious agents, and it is directly related to pore connectivity and pore volume.

Derivation and characterization of retinal pigment epithelium from urine‐derived iPSCs

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Age‐related macular degeneration causes vision loss via RPE dysfunction and loss. Traditional iPSC therapies rely on invasive biopsies, limiting scalability. Here, we utilize urine‐derived stem cells as an accessible source to generate u‐iPSCs, successfully differentiated into pigmented RPE. This “Urine‐to‐Retina” platform provides a promising path for

Thin Layer Drying Characteristic of Morinda Citrifolia Fruit and Drying Effects on 6 – Methoxy-7-Hydoxy-Coumarin Content [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
This study presents the thin layer drying characteristic of Morinda Citrifolia Linn fruit and drying effects on scopoletin content. The optimum mature stage of M.citrifolia fruit was found to be four months after bud flowering with high scopoletin ...

Research on dynamics and drying time in microwave paper drying

open access: yesChemical and biochemical engineering quarterly, 2003
Drying kinetics of paperboard with different grammages have been investigated in a laboratory microwave drier. The experiments were performed at four different values of specific microwave power between 440 W kg-1 and 1730 W kg-1. Experimental data of time varying paper moisture content were approximated with exponential Tomas&Skansi model and neural ...

Optimizing photoactivation of PA‐mCherry for optical pooled CRISPR screens

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Photoactivatable PA‐mCherry finds widespread use to optically tag individual cells. However, confocal 405 nm UV laser‐scanning (normal scan) is much less efficient than widefield UV illumination, limiting the use of PA‐mCherry on confocal instruments. We remedy this limitation by reporting that rapid and repeated confocal scanning with a low‐intensity,

Pharmacological inhibition of the PERK pathway modulates hepatocellular carcinoma growth and immune signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...
