Influence of Air Humidity on Drying of Individual Iron Ore Pellets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The influence of air humidity on drying is investigated at four inlet air dew points; T dp = 273, 292, 313, and 333 K. A numerical model taking into account capillary transport of liquid and internal evaporation is applied to a spherical geometry ...

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Kinetics of heat and moisture exchange and method for calculating the duration of the convective drying process of natural leather

open access: yesВесці Нацыянальнай акадэміі навук Беларусі: Серыя фізіка-тэхнічных навук, 2020
Methods for processing experimental data based on generalized variables of the drying process, which characterize the most general patterns of drying in a period of decreasing speed, are considered.

Influence of drying conditions on ascorbic acid during convective drying of whole persimmons [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Degradation kinetics of food constituents may be related to the matrix molecular mobility by glass transition temperature. Our objective was to test this approach to describe ascorbic acid degradation during drying of persimmons in an automatically ...

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

FINANCIAL ANALYSIS OF ON-FARM GRAIN DRYING [PDF]

open access: yes
Artificial drying of corn in the Southeastern Coastal Plain was shown to be financially feasible for average annual per farm production levels of greater than 10,000 bushels.

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Microwave, vacuum, and air drying characteristics of collard leaves [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Collard leaves (Brassica oleracea L. var. acephala) with an initial moisture content of 6.65 on percentage dry basis (%db) were dried by three different drying methods: microwave, air, and vacuum. Samples of fresh leaves, 25g each, were dried until their
