Improved DST Cryptanalysis of IDEA [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In this paper, we show how the Demirci-Selcuk-Ture attack, which is currently the deepest penetrating attack on the IDEA block cipher, can be improved significantly in performance. The improvements presented reduce the attack's plaintext, memory, precomputation time, and key search time complexities.

Prediction of Dst during solar minimum using in situ measurements at L5

open access: yes, 2020
Geomagnetic storms resulting from high-speed streams can have significant negative impacts on modern infrastructure due to complex interactions between the solar wind and geomagnetic field.

A statistical comparison of hot-ion properties at geosynchronous orbit during intense and moderate geomagnetic storms at solar maximum and minimum. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Hot-ion measurements at geosynchronous orbit from the Los Alamos Magnetospheric Plasma Analyzer (MPA) instrument during geomagnetic storms at solar maximum (July 1999–June 2002) and at solar minimum (July 1994–June 1997) are collected, categorized, and ...

Unremarkable AI: Fitting Intelligent Decision Support into Critical, Clinical Decision-Making Processes

open access: yes, 2019
Clinical decision support tools (DST) promise improved healthcare outcomes by offering data-driven insights. While effective in lab settings, almost all DSTs have failed in practice. Empirical research diagnosed poor contextual fit as the cause.

Maximum Coronal Mass Ejection Speed as an Indicator of Solar and Geomagnetic Activities

open access: yes, 2011
We investigate the relationship between the monthly averaged maximal speeds of coronal mass ejections (CMEs), international sunspot number (ISSN), and the geomagnetic Dst and Ap indices covering the 1996-2008 time interval (solar cycle 23).

Sign-time distributions for interface growth

open access: yes, 1998
We apply the recently introduced distribution of sign-times (DST) to non-equilibrium interface growth dynamics. We are able to treat within a unified picture the persistence properties of a large class of relaxational and noisy linear growth processes ...

EVALUATION OF VACCINE-INDUCED SEROREACTIVITY FROM AN EXPERIMENTAL PREVENTIVE HIV VACCINE IN THE CONTEXT OF A PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICE

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Infectious Diseases
Introduction/Objective: HIV infection remains a global public health challenge, reinforcing the importance of developing preventive vaccines. However, vaccine-induced seroreactivity (VISP/R) compromises the accuracy of current diagnostic tests, which do ...
