A New Narrow Band Dual-Mode Miniaturized Bandpass Filter Design for Wireless Communication Systems [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering and Technology Journal, 2009
A new narrowband, compact, and low profile microstrip filter design ispresented in this paper as a candidate for use in modern wireless systems. The proposed design is based on the use of fractal multiple ring resonator.

Dual criteria decisions [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Economic Psychology, 2014
The most popular models of decision making use a single criterion to evaluate projects or lotteries. However, decision makers may actually consider multiple criteria when evaluating projects. We consider a dual criteria model from psychology. This model integrates the familiar tradeoffs between risk and utility that economists traditionally assume ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Dual-Processing Altruism [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2013
Altruism refers to an other-benefiting behavior that is costly but bears no direct profit to oneself. At least three different forms can be distinguished: help giving, altruistic punishment, and moral courage. We investigated the differential impact of two thinking modes, intuitive (System 1) and rational (System 2), on these three altruistic behaviors.

Crosstalk between the ribosome quality control‐associated E3 ubiquitin ligases LTN1 and RNF10

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of the E3 ligase LTN1, the ubiquitin‐like modifier UFM1, or the deubiquitinating enzyme UFSP2 disrupts endoplasmic reticulum–ribosome quality control (ER‐RQC), a pathway that removes stalled ribosomes and faulty proteins. This disruption may trigger a compensatory response to ER‐RQC defects, including increased expression of the E3 ligase RNF10 ...

Dual Band Gap Coupled Antenna Design with DGS for Wireless Communications

open access: yesAdvanced Electromagnetics, 2014
A novel gap coupled dual band multiple ring antenna with a defected ground structure (DGS) has been successfully implemented. A different technique is used in this communication where both gap coupling and defected ground are applied to obtain better ...

On Statistical and Semi-Weyl Manifolds Admitting Torsion

open access: yesMathematics, 2022
We introduce the concept of quasi-semi-Weyl structure, we provide a couple of ways for constructing quasi-statistical and quasi-semi-Weyl structures by means of a pseudo-Riemannian metric, an affine connection and a tensor field on a smooth manifold, and

Interplay between circadian and other transcription factors—Implications for cycling transcriptome reprogramming

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This perspective highlights emerging insights into how the circadian transcription factor CLOCK:BMAL1 regulates chromatin architecture, cooperates with other transcription factors, and coordinates enhancer dynamics. We propose an updated framework for how circadian transcription factors operate within dynamic and multifactorial chromatin landscapes ...

Pseudo-Duals of Frames and Modular Riesz Bases in Hilbert $C^\ast$-Modules [PDF]

open access: yesSahand Communications in Mathematical Analysis
In the present article, duals, approximate duals and pseudo-duals (generated by bounded and not necessarily adjointable operators) of a frame in a Hilbert $C^\ast$-module are characterized and some of their properties are obtained.
