Dual boundary element method for axisymmetric crack analysis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Fracture, 2002
In this paper a dual boundary element formulation is developed and applied to the evaluation of stress intensity factors in, and propagation of, axisymmetric cracks. The displacement and stress boundary integral equations are reviewed and the asymptotic behaviour of their singular and hypersingular kernels is discussed.

The dual boundary element method in dynamic fracture mechanics

Engineering Analysis With Boundary Elements, 1993
Abstract A boundary element formulation, which does not require domain integration, is presented for a general dynamic crack problem in a linear elastic material. The problem is solved using the dual boundary element method, that is, the displacement equation is applied to one of the crack surfaces and the traction equation to the other.
