AdS/CFT Duality and the Emergence of Spacetime. [PDF]
The AdS/CFT duality has been a source of several strong conceptual claims in the physics literature. In this paper I focus on one of these: the extent to which spacetime geometry and locality can be said to \emph{emerge} from this duality, so that ...

Ixazomib inhibits proteasome‐mediated degradation of topoisomerase I induced by irinotecan, thereby restoring drug sensitivity and promoting tumor cell death in colorectal cancer. Irinotecan, a topoisomerase I (topoI) inhibitor, is widely used for colorectal cancer, but resistance remains a major clinical challenge.

Both cg12821679MAPRE3 methylation and MAPRE3 expression are significantly associated with overall survival (OS) of non‐small cell lung cancer. Meanwhile, MAPRE3 expression significantly modified the effect of smoking cessation on OS. Smoking cessation benefits OS merely for patients with high MAPRE3 expression.

Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Jordan duality and Freudenthal duality
We define a Jordan duality A → A* on the quantised charges A of five dimensional black holes and strings and an analogous Freudenthal duality x → on the quantised charges x of four dimensional stringy black holes, both of which are distinct from U-duality but leave the lowest order entropy invariant.

Hidden Symmetries of M-Theory and Its Dynamical Realization
We discuss hidden symmetries of M-theory, its feedback on the construction of the M-theory effective action, and a response of the effective action when locality is preserved.

Agricultural economistsÂ’' view of duality has often assumed the characteristics of an ambivalent relation. During the eighties, several authors published papers which put in doubt this or that aspects of duality.

Holography and Emergence [PDF]
In this paper, I discuss one form of the idea that spacetime and gravity might ‘emerge’ from quantum theory, i.e. via a holographic duality, and in particular via AdS/CFT duality.

MITF maintains genome stability in nonmelanocyte lineages
MITF is essential for melanocyte survival and acts as an oncogene in 10%–20% of melanomas. We show that MITF depletion causes genome instability in nonmelanocytic cells, leading to LATS2‐mediated P53 activation, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. This study highlights the role of MITF as a genome maintenance factor beyond the melanocyte lineage. Created

Canonical Duality Theory for Solving Nonconvex/Discrete Constrained Global Optimization Problems
This paper presents a canonical duality theory for solving general nonconvex/discrete constrained minimization problems. By using the canonical dual transformation, these challenging problems can be reformulated as a unified canonical dual problem (i.e.,
