The 15th International World Wide Web conference is currently underway in Edinburgh, Bonny Scotland. As usual, this popular conference has some good papers, only 11%* of submissions are accepted. One particular paper caught my eye: One Document to Bind Them: Combining XML, Web Services, and the Semantic Web.

This study demonstrates that inflammatory stimuli induce the acetylation‐triggered, chaperone‐mediated autophagic degradation of ubiquitin‐specific peptidase 9 X‐linked (USP9X) in macrophages. USP9X acts as a macrophage “inflammation switch” after myocardial infarction (MI). USP9X loss destabilizes tumor necrosis factor receptor‐associated factor (TRAF)

Rapid Assignment of Chemical Shifts From Crystal Structures in Solid‐State NMR
Chemical shift assignment in solids is a long and tedious process that relies on complex 1D and 2D NMR experiments. With prior knowledge of the 3D structure, this process can be significantly sped up by a Bayesian probabilistic assignment approach based on predicted chemical shifts.

The Polycomb Repressive-Deubiquitinase (PR-DUB) complex is responsible for the removal of the ubiquitin epigenetic modification from Histone 2A. Here the authors describe the structure of the Drosophila PR-DUB complex, providing new insight into its ...

It is reported that the unconventional spin Hall magnetoresistance generated from nonrelativistic spin currents in RuO2 is capable of accurately detecting spin current polarization and disentangling the T̂$\hat{T}$‐odd and T̂$\hat{T}$‐even components of a spin current.

Long-term effects of structure-based versus dynamic usage-based instructional programs for French
This study compares the effects of two instructional programs on speaking, listening, reading and writing skills after six years of instruction. The first is based on dynamic usage-based (DUB) principles, with a great deal of exposure and meaningful ...

Cooperative inhibition of RIP1-mediated NF-κB signaling by cytomegalovirus-encoded deubiquitinase and inactive homolog of cellular ribonucleotide reductase large subunit. [PDF]
Several viruses have been found to encode a deubiquitinating protease (DUB). These viral DUBs are proposed to play a role in regulating innate immune or inflammatory signaling. In human cytomegalovirus (HCMV), the largest tegument protein encoded by UL48

Alterations in protein ubiquitylation and hypoxia are commonly associated with cancer. Ubiquitylation is carried out by three sequentially acting ubiquitylating enzymes and can be opposed by deubiquitinases (DUBs), which have emerged as promising drug targets.

Stable Diffusion Models Reveal a Persisting Human–AI Gap in Visual Creativity
This study examines visual creativity in humans and generative AI using the TCIA framework. Human artists outperform AI overall, yet structured human guidance substantially improves AI outputs and evaluations. Findings reveal that alignment with human creativity depends critically on contextual framing, highlighting both the promise and current ...
