EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATIONS OF NITROGEN ALLOYED DUPLEX STAINLESS STEEL IN DRY MILLING PROCESS [PDF]
Duplex stainless steels are generally more difficult to cut because of their high toughness, low heat conductivity, more strain hardening rate and more built-up edge formation.

Heat treatments that alter the proportions of austenite and ferrite phases or induce the precipitation of phases such as sigma in duplex stainless steel UNS S32205 make it more susceptible to pitting and crevice corrosion. However, the effects of these treatments are not always evident when analyzed using the cyclic polarization technique.

Laser welding of duplex stainless steel disrupts phase balance, promotes nitride precipitation, and reduces fatigue resistance. Postweld heat treatment restores austenite and dissolves nitrides, but the resulting crystallography and phase morphology still impair fatigue performance.

Application of Duplex Stainless Steels in Manufacture of Equipment for Nuclear Power Station
The austenite-ferrite duplex stainless steels have stable austenite phase and ferrite phase structure that have higher mechanical properties and excellent pitting, intergranular corrosion and stress corrosion resistance, therefore the steels are wide ...

Abstract With the market introduction of new reinforcing materials, such as corrosion‐resistant steel, the effect of their stress–strain relationship on the ductility of reinforced concrete structures needs to be evaluated. Their moment‐curvature behavior significantly influences bending moment redistributions, rotation capacity, and deformation at ...

On the pitting resistance of friction stir welded UNS S82441 lean duplex stainless steel
Friction stir welding has been considered as an alternative to fusion welding processes of stainless steels. A lean duplex stainless steel, grade UNS S82441, has been recently developed and is prone to localized corrosion, such as pitting when exposed to

Mitochondrial function predicts dominance status in brown trout
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract In social hierarchies, winning contests confers better access to food, shelter and reproductive opportunities. Clear dominance relationships are often apparent even when opponents are matched for experience, age, size and other obvious characteristics.

Static Assessment of Hybrid Double‐Lap Bolted Joints With Additively Manufactured 316L Plates
ABSTRACT The present study examines the static response and evaluates the accuracy of design standards and selected literature‐based design criteria in estimating the load capacity of the inner plates of double‐lap shear bolted connections in single‐ and double‐bolt configurations.

Sigma Phase Detection in Duplex Stainless Steel Based on Correlation to Current and Potential in Micro Electrode Electrochemical of Surface [PDF]
Duplex stainless steels are widely used due to their good mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. However, they are susceptible to microstructural fragility related to harmful transformations taking place in intermetallic phases, such as the ...

Effect of niobium in the phase transformation and corrosion resistance of one austenitic-ferritic stainless steel [PDF]
Austenitic-ferritic stainless steels containing 0.2% and 0.5% niobium were evaluated with respect to the microstructures, microhardness, pitting potential resistance, electrochemical impedance and wearing tests. Niobium is an alphagenic element and has a
