MEDORA DURUM WHEAT

Canadian Journal of Plant Science, 1986
Medora durum wheat (Triticum turgidum L.) was developed at the Agriculture Canada Research Station, Winnipeg from the cross Ward/Macoun. It is a medium short, strong-strawed cultivar, well adapted across the Prairie Provinces. Medora is resistant to prevalent races of leaf and stem rust, and bunt; it has excellent pasta-making quality.Key words ...

Aiuminium tolerance of durum wheat germplasm [PDF]

open access: possibleEuphytica, 1994
Aluminium tolerance of Macedonian durum wheat (Triticum turgidum L. conv. durum (Desf.) MacKey) germplasm was evaluated in nutrient solutions containing 0, 74 or 148 µ M of total A1. Relative root length (148 µ M A1/O A1) of various genotypes ranged from 41 to 72% (from moderately sensitive to moderately tolerant to A1).

Plenty Durum wheat

Canadian Journal of Plant Science, 1991
Plenty durum wheat (Triticum turgidum L.) is a high-yielding, moderately late durum wheat that is eligible for the top grades of amber durum wheat. It has moderately tall, strong straw and is well-adapted to the drier areas of durum production. It is similar to other durum cultivars in disease resistance.

Durum Wheat Breeding

2009
This chapter summarizes the scientific and technical knowledge for durum wheat breeding, giving some examples of the methods applied in national programs. Section 1 refers to the importance of durum wheat in the world. Sections 2 and 3 give technical details on genetic diversity and the choice of germplasm, while the main varietal groups are explained ...

Characterization of a mitotic mutant of durum wheat

Chromosome Research, 2001
An ethyl methanesulfonate-induced mitotic mutant of durum wheat (Triticum turgidum L. var. durum; 2n = 4x = 28) was found. We have characterized the mutant to determine the mechanism of abnormal cell division and to test for temperature effects on abnormal cell division.
