A review of nanoparticle decharging in atmospheric pressure plasma afterglows

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2022
Plasma afterglows interacting with dust grains present a dynamic environment in which negatively charged dust grains leaving the plasma bulk experience an environment with plasma conditions transient in space and time.

The feasibility of using an L1 positioned dust cloud as a method of space-based geoengineering

open access: yes, 2012
In this paper a method of geoengineering is proposed involving clouds of dust placed in the vicinity of the L1 point as an alternative to the use of thin film reflectors.

Updating the Electrostatic Model for Dust Impact Detection with Antenna Instruments

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Antenna instruments deployed in space are known to be sensitive to dust impacts, and the detected signals can be used to characterize the dust populations within the solar system.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Synthetic Modeling of Polarized Dust Emission in Intermediate-mass Young Stellar Objects. II. Effects of Radiative Torque Disruption on Dust Grains in Protostellar Jets/Outflows

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
One possible explanation for the presence of very large grains (VLGs) larger than 10 μ m in the inner envelope of intermediate-mass Class 0/I young stellar objects is their migration from the protostellar disk via outflows. To assess whether RATD hinders

On the realization of the current-driven dust ion-acoustic instability

open access: yes, 1999
The current-driven dust ion-acoustic instability in a collisional dusty plasma is studied. The effects of dust-charge variation, electron and ion capture by the dust grains, as well as various dissipative mechanisms leading to the changes of the ...

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Physical Processes on Circumplanetary Dust [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Astronomical Union Colloquium, 1991
Abstract The life cycles of grains in circumplanetary space are governed by various physical processes that alter sizes and modify orbits. Lifetimes are quite short, perhaps 102-104 years for typical circumplanetary grains of 1 micron radius. Thus particles must be continually supplied to the circumplanetary complex, probably by the grinding down of

Dusty space plasma diagnosis using temporal behavior of polar mesospheric summer echoes during active modification [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The objective of this paper is to study the effect of different plasma and dust parameters on Polar Mesospheric Summer Echoes (PMSE) temporal behavior after turn-on and turn-off of radio wave heating and to use these responses to diagnose the properties ...

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...
