A shape memory alloy adaptive tuned vibration absorber: design and implementation
In this paper a tuned vibration absorber (TVA) is realized using shape memory alloy (SMA) elements. The elastic modulus of SMA changes with temperature and this effect is exploited to develop a continuously tunable device.A TVA with beam elements is ...

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Contributions to the Study of Dynamic Absorbers, a Case Study [PDF]
Dynamic absorbers are used to reduce torsional vibrations. This paper studies the effect of a dynamic absorber attached to a mechanical system formed of three reduced masses which are acted on by one, two or three order x harmonics of a disruptive ...

Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Feasibility of nonlinear absorbers for transient vibration reduction [PDF]
Torsional vibrations are a cause of severe damage to flexible couplings and gearboxes of a dredger drive line. In this paper the feasibility of three different vibration absorbers is discussed when reducing transient vibrations originating from sudden ...

Nonlinear terahertz devices utilizing semiconducting plasmonic metamaterials
The development of responsive metamaterials has enabled the realization of compact tunable photonic devices capable of manipulating the amplitude, polarization, wave vector, and frequency of light. Integration of semiconductors into the active regions of

Raman‐based label‐free microscopic analysis of the pancreas in living zebrafish larvae
Forward stimulated Raman scattering (F‐SRS) and epi coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (E‐CARS) allow label‐free discrimination of distinct subcellular structures in the pancreas of living zebrafish larvae. Given the straightforward applicability, we anticipate broad implementation of Raman microscopy in other organs and across various biomedical ...

FLEXURAL VIBRATION CONTROL OF BEAM USING ROTATIONAL DYNAMIC VIBRATION ABSORBERS
In this paper, the characteristics of flexural vibration suppression of a beam using rotational dynamic vibration absorbers are studied. Vibration equations of the beam carrying rotational dynamic vibration absorbers are established using the spectral ...

Retrocausal Quantum Mechanics: Maudlin's Challenge Revisited [PDF]
In 1994, Maudlin proposed an objection to retrocausal approaches to quantum mechanics in general, and to the transactional interpretation (TI) in particular, involving an absorber that changes location depending on the trajectory of the particle. Maudlin
