Holographic Display System to Suppress Speckle Noise Based on Beam Shaping

open access: yesPhotonics, 2021
In this paper, a holographic system to suppress the speckle noise is proposed. Two spatial light modulators (SLMs) are used in the system, one of which is used for beam shaping, and the other is used for reproducing the image.

Dynamics of laser-induced tunable focusing in silicon

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
We report here on focusing of a probe IR (λ = 1.55 μm) laser beam in silicon. The focusing is done by a second pump laser beam, at λ = 0.775 μm and 30 ps pulse width, with a donut shape that is launched collinearly and simultaneously (with some delay ...

Dynamic shaping of orbital-angular-momentum beams for information encoding

open access: yesOptics Express, 2018
Shaping complex fields with a digital micromirror device (DMD) has attracted much attention recently due to its potential application in optical communication and microscopy. In this paper, we present an optimized Lee method to achieve dynamic shaping of orbital-angular-momentum (OAM) beams using a binary DMD. An error diffusion algorithm is introduced

Inverse design of perimeter-controlled InAs-assisted metasurface for two-dimensional dynamic beam steering

open access: yesNanophotonics, 2022
The current commercially viable light detection and ranging systems demand continuous, full-scene, and dynamic two-dimensional point scanning, while featuring large aperture size to ensure long distance operation.

Experimental and numerical investigation on the dynamic shear failure mechanism of sandstone using short beam compression specimen

open access: yesJournal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, 2023
In this study, a novel testing method is proposed to characterize the dynamic shear property and failure mechanism of rocks by introducing the short beam compression (SBC) specimen into the split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) system.

Preliminary Results on Beam Dynamics of Laser Pulse Shaping Effects in SPARC [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 2005 Particle Accelerator Conference, 2006
Electron beams with different initial pulse characteristics have been transported along the SPARC photoinjector. The differences we considered come from the possible profiles of the laser pulse driving the radiofrequency (rf) electron gun. Realistic deviations from the ideal flat-top pulse give for example a ramp or multi-peaks shape with a relative ...

Cavity shape and beam dynamics design for a linac for pions [PDF]

open access: yesConference Record of the 1991 IEEE Particle Accelerator Conference, 2002
A linac to accelerate pions from 400 to 920 MeV kinetic energy is being designed as an upgrade to the LAMPF accelerator facility at Los Alamos, New Mexico. Calculations for the design of the superconducting cavity shape attempt to reduce the peak surface field needed to achieve a given accelerating gradient, yet ensure sufficient cell-to-cell coupling ...
