Introducing Dynamic Behavior in Amalgamated Knowledge Bases

open access: yes, 2002
The problem of integrating knowledge from multiple and heterogeneous sources is a fundamental issue in current information systems. In order to cope with this problem, the concept of mediator has been introduced as a software component providing ...

Effects of Cancer Treatment on Somatosensory and Nociceptive Processing in Children and Adolescents: A Systematic Review

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Chemotherapy‐induced peripheral neuropathy remains a major complication in pediatric cancer, with disrupted somatosensory and nociceptive processing being a key aspect. This review synthesizes empirical studies on alterations in somatosensory and nociceptive processing in children and adolescents with cancer.

Pottery Sand as Fine Aggregate for Preparing Alkali-Activated Slag Mortar

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2018
Alkali-activated slag (AAS) mortars were prepared using pottery sand as a fine aggregate in a ratio of 1 : 1.75 using a blend of sodium silicate and NaOH as an alkaline activator at room temperature.

Dynamic behavior and microstructural properties of cancellous bone

open access: yes, 2009
The aim of the presented study is to identify some properties of the dynamic behavior of the cancellous bone and to identify the link between this mechanical behavior and the microstructural properties.

Tricritical Behavior in Dynamical Phase Transitions

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2023
We identify a new scenario for dynamical phase transitions associated with time-integrated observables occurring in diffusive systems described by the macroscopic fluctuation theory. It is characterized by the pairwise meeting of first- and second-order bias-induced phase transition curves at two tricritical points.

Clinical Course and Impact of Breaks in Therapy for Children With Relapsed/Refractory Solid Tumors

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Pediatric relapsed or refractory (R/R) solid tumors carry a dismal prognosis, and postrelapse patient experiences are not well described. We present postrelapse outcomes, including number of R/R events and subsequent therapy regimens.

A Combined Weighting Method to Assess Indoor Environmental Sub-Factors for Human Comfort in Offices in China’s Severe Cold Regions

open access: yesBuildings
Indoor environmental quality in offices, comprising thermal, acoustic, lighting, and air quality domains, is known to influence human comfort, yet the relative importance of their sub-factors—particularly in severe cold regions—remains unclear.

Effects of Temperature and Stress on Creep Behavior of PP and Hybrid Fiber Reinforced Reactive Powder Concrete

open access: yesInternational Journal of Concrete Structures and Materials, 2019
Reactive powder concrete (RPC) is an advanced cementitious material with ultra-high strength, remarkable durability and excellent toughness. However, temperature dependent creep is a major concern as very little work has been reported in the literature ...

Emergent Design of Dynamical Behavior

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Mechanical Design, Systems, and Manufacturing, 2010
As a mechanical system has larger number of degree-of freedom (DOF) of motion in order to generate diverse behavior, it becomes more difficult to design the control scheme for its motion to achieve a specific function required for the system. This paper proposes a novel design methodology for the control scheme in order to deal with the above-mentioned

Treatment Decision‐Making Roles and Preferences Among Adolescents and Young Adults With Cancer

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Decision‐making (DM) dynamics between adolescents and young adults (AYAs) with cancer, parents, and oncologists remain underexplored in diverse populations. We examined cancer treatment DM preferences among an ethnically and socioeconomically diverse group of AYAs and their parents.
