Dynamic control strategy of a distillation system for a composition-adjustable organic Rankine cycle [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Using zeotropic mixtures as working fluids can improve the thermal efficiency of Organic Rankine cycle (ORC) power plants for utilising geothermal energy.

On dynamical systems of characteristic 0+ [PDF]

open access: yesMathematical Systems Theory, 1975
The purpose of this paper is to characterize planar dynamical systems satisfying certain stability criteria. The flows are characterized in terms of their critical points and a nontrivial example satisfying all of the properties obtained by Ahmad is constructed.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Dynamic research of solar cells / Dinaminis saulės elemento tyrimas

open access: yesMokslas: Lietuvos Ateitis, 2017
Solar cells are one of the most popular renewable energy generation technologies, because they are reliable, low operating and maintenance costs, to conclude without any moving parts and is a boundless source of energy.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

THE PROBLEM OF IMPROVEMENT OF THE AVIONIC EQUIPMENT VIBRATION RESISTANCE

open access: yesНаучный вестник МГТУ ГА, 2017
The article gives an approach to a solution of the problem of improvement the avionic equipment vibration resistance. It is shown that the use of the tests, which are provided by the state standards do not insure the required level of the failures caused

Dynamic characteristics of observed sudden warmings [PDF]

open access: yes
The planetary wave dynamics of stratospheric sudden warmings in the Northern Hemisphere for a large number of observed events that occurred during winters from 1970 to 1975 and 1978 to 1981 are investigated.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.
