An Application of Beam Dynamics to a Damper Design
IBM Journal of Research and Development, 1979Flexural wave propagation may be used as a means of absorbing impact energy to prevent excessive rebound or to shorten the cycle time of high-speed printing devices. For optimal damping action, however, the dynamic analysis of beams used in the mechanism is necessary; this paper presents such an analysis.

Simulation of Dynamic Properties of ER Damper
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2012By way of Matlab software simulation, the relationship among shear stress and frequency, velocity, displacement and ER properties has been researched, the damper strength -- velocity, damper strength – drift properties of shear electrorheological fluid damper has been given, the law of damper strength with frequency, gap , diameter and electric field ...

Momentum Transfer Dynamics of a Gyrostat with a Discrete Damper
Journal of Guidance, Control, and Dynamics, 1997Thestabilityofmotionofattitudemaneuversofatorque-freerigidgyrostatwithadiscretedamperisinvestigated. The equations of motion are presented in dimensionless form. Conditions for equilibrium motions and for their stability aredeveloped.Bifurcation diagramsareused toillustratethestableand unstablebranchesofsteady spins, and these bifurcation diagrams are ...

Dynamics and Performance of a Vertical Impact Damper
46th AIAA/ASME/ASCE/AHS/ASC Structures, Structural Dynamics and Materials Conference, 2005Particle impact dampers (PIDs) provide effective vibration damping in numerous applications. However, our theoretical understanding of the behavior of such dampers is incomplete, and limits their use. As a PID can be considered to be a more general version of an impact damper, predicting the performance of an impact damper is an essential step towards ...

Dynamic Analysis of Active Mass Damper
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013This article presents a CAD design and analysis of the dynamics of a mass damper, used to reduce amplitude of vibrations in a high building. The mass damper dissipates the energy of earthquakes or strong winds on the top, thus avoiding structure damage, and preventing collapse.

Application of Viscoelastic Material for a Dynamic Damper
Journal of Vibration and Acoustics, 1986An optimization procedure in the design of a viscoelastic dynamic damper is proposed for a single-degree-of-freedom primary system with the effects of prestrain taken into account. The performance is compared with that by a conventional spring-dashpot-mass damper.

Modelling the Dynamic Behaviour of A Motorcycle Damper
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part D: Journal of Automobile Engineering, 1995Within the context of vehicle suspension component characterization, that of shock absorbers is one of the more difficult to achieve, yet it is a very critical factor in the prediction of vehicle dynamic behaviour. Strongly non-linear output force functions are always linked to a frequency-dependent behaviour.

Dynamic Analysis of Viscoelastic-Fluid Dampers
Journal of Engineering Mechanics, 1995A solution methodology is presented for computing the dynamic stiffnesses in all vibration modes of viscoelastic-fluid dampers with mechanical properties that depend strongly on both frequency and temperature. The method of reduced variables is introduced to construct the master curves of the dynamic modulus of the fluid at some reference temperature ...

Dynamic Modeling of Magnetorheological Damper Behaviors
Journal of Intelligent Material Systems and Structures, 2006Based on theoretical analysis and experiments, this article proposes a new model for a magnetorheological (MR) damper. The proposed model with a smooth and concise form can interpret the bi-viscous and hysteretic behaviors of the MR damper very well. The parameters in the model have definite physical meanings.
