Nonlinear Dynamics of Stockbridge Dampers
Journal of Dynamic Systems, Measurement, and Control, 2015The present paper deals with the nonlinear dynamics of a Stockbridge damper. The nonlinearity is from damping and the geometric stretching of the messenger. The Stockbridge damper is modeled as two cantilevered beams with tip masses. The equations of motion and boundary conditions are derived using Hamilton’s principle.

Dynamic damper for steering system
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2005Disclosed is a dynamic damper for use in a steering system of an automotive vehicle, including a mounting member connectable to a steering column or a steering wheel of the steering system; and a plurality of secondary vibration systems independent of each other, each including a mass member and a spring member for elastically supporting the mass ...

Dynamic modeling of ring nutation dampers
Astrodynamics Specialist Conference, 2000Introduction R ECENTLY published analyses of nutation dampers are not widely available, but modeling damper performance is an interesting problem combiningmany disciplines. This Note presents a new perspective on nutation dampers such as the one examined in Ref. 1. There, the damper consisted of a hoop of metal partially lled with a viscous uid and

Dynamics of Distributed Impact Dampers
Volume 1D: 16th Biennial Conference on Mechanical Vibration and Noise, 1997Abstract In this work, the dynamics of spatially distributed impact dampers are investigated. Typical impact damper configurations consist of a single, rigid mass which moves freely within a cavity that is attached to a lightly damped structure.

Dynamic Characteristics of a Hydraulic Damper
Seismic Engineering, Volume 2, 2002The response of a structure to earthquake or any other dynamic excitation can be brought down by using a suitable damper such as a hydraulic damper. An analytical model has been developed for hydraulic damper, which consists of a cylinder and piston arrangement with a bypass pipeline.

Dynamics and Efficiency of an Impact Damper
2014The main aim of this paper is to focus on dynamics of the electromechanical system flexibly coupled with a baseplate and damped by an impact element. The model is constructed with three degrees of freedom in the mechanical oscillating part, two translational and one rotational.

Dynamic analogy between an electromagnetic shunt damper and a tuned mass damper
Smart Materials and Structures, 2013An electromagnetic shunt damper (EMSD) is composed of an electromagnetic damper connected to one or more RLC shunt circuits. Through a theoretical comparison, this paper reveals the similarity and difference between an EMSD and a tuned mass damper (TMD), both of which are resonant-type vibration absorbers.

Vibration absorber with dynamic damper
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2008In an engine mount (A) whose axis (X) is oriented in the front to rear direction of a vehicle, a damper weight ( 12 ) is embedded within a toroidal stopper rubber ( 10 ) fixed at its inner periphery to the rear end of an inner cylinder ( 2 ). The damper weight ( 12 ) is made of, for example, steel plate to have a spiral form and placed to surround the ...
