Experimental Investigation on Limit Cycle Wing Rock Effect on Wing Body Configuration Induced by Forebody Vortices

open access: yesJournal of Aerospace Technology and Management, 2016
The purpose of this paper is to present the aerodynamic and flow characteristics of a slender body with a 30° swept wing configuration undergoing a limit cycle oscillation using a synchronous measurement and control technique of wing rock/particle image ...

Welfare Flows and Caseload Dynamics [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Economics, 2007
Data from the 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993 and 1996 panels of the Survey of Income and Program Participations are used to estimate AFDC/TANF entry and exit rates. These estimates of AFDC/TANF entry and exit rates are used to conduct simulations aimed at determining the roles of economic conditions and welfare reform in explaining AFDC caseloads changes ...

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Dynamically Incompressible Flow

open access: yes, 2012
Quite often, researchers model a flow as dynamically incompressible without realizing it. This version of the governing equations has been employed to model exhaust aftertreatment devices since the initial work of Vardi and Biller in 1968 (Vardi & Biller, 1968). The small channels in these devices, along with a relatively low flow rate of exhaust gases

Dynamic ultrasonic visualization of blood vessels and flows

open access: yesArchives of Acoustics, 2016
This paper describes a new method for dynamic real-time visualization of blood flows. This method uses a special signal processing system (SEC) which consists in cancellation of stationary echoes from the reflections of ultrasonic waves from soft tissues

Dual targeting of RET and SRC synergizes in RET fusion‐positive cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Despite the strong activity of selective RET tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), resistance of RET fusion‐positive (RET+) lung cancer and thyroid cancer frequently occurs and is mainly driven by RET‐independent bypass mechanisms. Son et al. show that SRC TKIs significantly inhibit PAK and AKT survival signaling and enhance the efficacy of RET TKIs in ...

A spatial dynamic panel approach to modelling the space-time dynamics of interprovincial migration flows in China

open access: yesDemographic Research, 2019
Background: Migration plays an increasingly crucial role in regional growth and development. However, most empirical studies fail to simultaneously capture the spatial and temporal aspects of migration flows, and thus fail to reveal how space-time ...

Perspectives in educating molecular pathologists on liquid biopsy: Toward integrative, equitable, and decentralized precision oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Liquid biopsy enables minimally invasive, real‐time molecular profiling through analysis of circulating biomarkers in biological fluids. This Perspective highlights the importance of training pathologists through integrative educational programs, such as the European Masters in Molecular Pathology, to ensure effective and equitable implementation of ...

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Next‐generation proteomics improves lung cancer risk prediction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This is one of very few studies that used prediagnostic blood samples from participants of two large population‐based cohorts. We identified, evaluated, and validated an innovative protein marker model that outperformed an established risk prediction model and criteria employed by low‐dose computed tomography in lung cancer screening trials.
