Dynamic increase and decrease of photonic crystal nanocavity Q factors for optical pulse control
We introduce recent advances in dynamic control over the Q factor of a photonic crystal nanocavity system. By carefully timing a rapid increase of the Q factor from 3800 to 22,000, we succeed in capturing a 4ps signal pulse within the nanocavity with a photon lifetime of 18ps.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Bridge steel fiber reinforced concrete specimens under high loading rates
Due to its inherent properties, concrete exhibits brittle failure once it attains its peak compressive and tensile strengths. As concrete is weak in tension, it is usually reinforced with steel bars to resist tensile stresses produced by the applied ...

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Analysis of Energy Dissipation Characteristics of Damaged Sandstone under Impact Load
Before rock burst, coal, and gas outburst dynamic load, rock mass in geotechnical engineering has been an indifferent degree of damage. The dissipation energy of rock mass under dynamic load reflects the difficulty of rock breaking. In view of the energy
