An Operational Daily‐Filtered Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory F10.7 cm Solar Radio Flux Product

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, Volume 13, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract The F10.7 solar radio flux density, or F10.7, is a disk‐integrated measure of the Sun's total emission at 10.7 cm (2.8 GHz) and is a widely‐used proxy of solar activity. F10.7 emissions primarily originate from the Sun's upper chromosphere and lower corona. High‐frequency, transient “radio bursts” can dramatically increase the magnitude of F10.

The Daily Atmospheric Ionospheric Limb Imager (DAILI) CubeSat Experiment

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, Volume 131, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract The Daily Atmospheric Ionospheric Limb Imager (DAILI) (Daily Atmospheric and Ionospheric Limb Imager) mission utilized a 6U CubeSat, deployed at about 410 km altitude in a 51‐degree orbit, to make simultaneous daytime limb measurements in two colors; at 630 nm to measure the OI (630 nm) redline and at 765 nm to measure the O2 ${\mathrm{O}}_{2}$

Coupling of the solar wind, magnetosphere and ionosphere by MHD waves [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The solar wind, magnetosphere and ionosphere are coupled by magnetohydrodynamic waves, and this gives rise to new and often unexpected behaviours that cannot be produced by a single, isolated part of the system.

On the Effects of the Solar Wind Structure in the Global Distribution of dBH/dt ${\text{dB}}_{H}/\text{dt}$ Spikes During Geomagnetic Storms

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, Volume 131, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract Variations in the solar wind, particularly those associated with interplanetary coronal mass ejections (ICMEs) and high‐speed streams (HSSs), drive geomagnetic disturbances that produce rapid changes in the ground magnetic field. These variations, commonly quantified by the time derivative of the horizontal magnetic field dBH/dt $\left({\text ...

Medium‐Scale Traveling Ionospheric Disturbances Induced by Secondary Gravity Waves Associated With Record‐Breaking Heavy Rainfall in August 2021 Over Kyushu, Japan

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, Volume 131, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract This study reconstructs a multistep gravity wave (GW) pathway, from the generation of primary GWs by deep convection in the troposphere to the generation of secondary GWs that drive semi‐concentric medium‐scale traveling ionospheric disturbances (MSTIDs) in the ionosphere, during the record‐breaking heavy rainfall over Kyushu, Japan, in August

Cosmic Ray Anisotropy Generated by the June 22nd 2015 Interplanetary Events

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, Volume 131, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract On 22 June 2015, the near Earth interplanetary space was perturbed by a series of high‐speed streamers and interplanetary coronal mass ejections associated with an active region and two low‐latitude coronal holes. The interaction of these disturbances gave rise to the complex solar wind structure observed at 1 au.

Assimilating GNSS Airborne Radio Occultation Bending Angles With MPAS–JEDI During a Sequence of Atmospheric Rivers

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems, Volume 18, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) airborne radio occultation (ARO) observations, collected during Atmospheric River Reconnaissance (AR Recon) campaigns, enhance AR sampling beyond traditional dropsondes. Assimilating ARO bending angles requires a forward operator accounting for ARO geometry and proper integration in a data assimilation

Collisionless Shocks: Contemporary State After Three Quarters of a Century of Research

open access: yesReviews of Geophysics, Volume 64, Issue 3, September 2026.
Abstract The collisionless shock research started in the late 1950s. Since then, plenty of data have been accumulated due to the large number of missions in the heliosphere, providing in situ measurements of the fields and particles. The quality of these measurements has vastly improved, especially in the last two decades.

Responses of Field‐Aligned Currents and Equatorial Electrojet to Sudden Decrease of Solar Wind Dynamic Pressure During the March 2023 Geomagnetic Storm

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
We present the observations of field‐aligned currents and the equatorial electrojet during the 23 March 2023 magnetic storm, focusing on the effect of the drastic decrease of the solar wind dynamic pressure occurred during the main phase.
