A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Startup of a reactive distillation process with a decanter [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The startup of a reactive distillation process for the production of propyl acetate including a decanter is studied. A simulation model is presented which describes the whole startup from a cold and empty state and takes into account the liquid phase ...

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Numerical Investigation of Flow Field Characteristics around Two Ship Hull Sections with Different Reynolds Numbers

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
In the field of ocean engineering, the variation of flow field during ship-to-ship (STS) interaction has been a hot topic. Noteworthy, the effect of vortex distribution on flow field characteristic variations during STS interaction remains insufficiently

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Muscle prestimulation tunes velocity preflex in simulated perturbed hopping

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
Muscle fibres possess unique visco-elastic properties, which generate a stabilising zero-delay response to unexpected perturbations. This instantaneous response—termed “preflex”—mitigates neuro-transmission delays, which are hazardous during fast ...

Ship Anomalous Behavior Detection Using Clustering and Deep Recurrent Neural Network

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2023
In this study, we propose a real-time ship anomaly detection method driven by Automatic Identification System (AIS) data. The method uses ship trajectory clustering classes as a normal model and a deep learning algorithm as an anomaly detection tool. The
