Dynamic interfacial tension effects in the rupture of liquid necks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
By examining the rupture of fluid necks during droplet formation of surfactant-laden liquids, we observe deviations from expected behaviour for the pinch-off of such necks.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Investigation of Frequency-Dependent Characteristics of Wire Rope under Tension Based on Transfer Function Method

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Wire rope is a complex structure made by twisting wires of various sizes in the longitudinal direction. It is used to support or move engineering structures and is subject to various tensions.

Estimating dynamic skin tension lines in vivo using 3D scans [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
International audienceSkin tension lines, defined as the lines of maximal tension, often provide guidelines for surgical incisions and pattern design of tight-fit, functional clothing.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Comprehensive study of rheological and surface properties of the selected slag system in the context of its internal structure

open access: yesMetalurgija, 2016
Rheological (dynamic viscosity, flow curves) and surface properties (surface tension) of real slag system were experimentally investigated. Measurements of dynamic viscosity were performed with use of the high-temperature viscometer Anton Paar FRS 1 600.

Experimental investigation of the failure envelope of unidirectional carbon-epoxy composite under high strain rate transverse and off-axis tensile loading

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2015
The mechanical response of the carbon-epoxy material system HexPly IM7-8552 was investigated under transverse tension and combined transverse tension / in-plane shear loading at quasi-static and dynamic strain rates.

Complex Modulus Determination of Asphalt Concrete Using Indirect Tension Test [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The purpose of this research is to present the results from an analytical/experimental study on the dynamic modulus testing of hot mix asphalt (HMA) using the indirect tension (IDT) mode.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated
