Dynamic testing in Cushing’s syndrome

open access: yesPituitary, 2007
Endogenous Cushing's syndrome (CS) results from chronic exposure to excess glucocorticoids. CS can be ACTH-dependent, caused by ACTH-secreting pituitary or ectopic tumours, or ACTH-independent, caused by cortisol-secreting adrenal tumours. CS can be an extremely difficult diagnosis to make, and assessment will include clinical, biochemical and ...

Forecasting and Stress Testing Credit Card Default with Dynamic Models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Typically models of credit card default are built on static data, often collected at timeof application. We consider alternative models that also include behavioural dataabout credit card holders and macroeconomic conditions across the credit ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

MCAF-Net: A non-invasive early screening method for coronary artery disease based on a multi-scale cross-modal model [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences
Coronary artery disease (CAD) is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Achieving early, non-invasive, and highly accurate detection of CAD is crucial for reducing its mortality rate.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...
