Mathematical Analysis of Fractal-Fractional Mathematical Model of COVID-19

open access: yesFractal and Fractional, 2023
In this work, we modified a dynamical system that addresses COVID-19 infection under a fractal-fractional-order derivative. The model investigates the psychological effects of the disease on humans. We establish global and local stability results for the

Dynamical systems theory for music dynamics

open access: yesChaos: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Nonlinear Science, 1995
We show that, when music pieces are cast in the form of time series of pitch variations, the concepts and tools of dynamical systems theory can be applied to the analysis of temporal dynamics in music. (i) Phase space portraits are constructed from the time series wherefrom the dimensionality is evaluated as a measure of the global dynamics of each ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

On the Lyndon dynamical system

open access: yesAdvances in Applied Mathematics, 2016
Given a totally finite ordered alphabet $ A $, endowing the set of words over $ A $ with the alternating lexicographic order, we define a new class of Lyndon words. We study the fundamental properties of the associated symbolic dynamical systems called Lyndon system. We derive some fundamental properties of the beta-shift with negative base by relating

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

First passage of stochastically dynamical system with fractional derivative and power-form restoring force under Gaussian excitation [PDF]

open access: yesFME Transactions, 2014
First passage problem in a dynamical system with power-form restoring force and fractional derivative is studied in this paper. At first, the original system is transformed into an diffusion differential equation by way of generalized Van der Pol ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Dynamical Casimir-Polder forces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We consider the dynamical Casimir-Polder force on an atom placed near an infinite conducting wall. The system is initially in a non equilibrium configuration such as a bare or a partially dressed state, and its time evolution is considered as well as the
