Dynamics of musical expression [PDF]
Various aspects of the dynamics of musical expression in terms of both acoustic and perceptual parameters were studied. In one study, duets of soprano orchestral winds performed brief musical passages in unison and in simple diatonic harmony. Perceptual spaces, obtained by scaling, were compared with acoustical analyses.

MusicFace: Music-driven expressive singing face synthesis [PDF]
It remains an interesting and challenging problem to synthesize a vivid and realistic singing face driven by music. In this paper, we present a method for this task with natural motions for the lips, facial expression, head pose, and eyes.

Dynamic processes in music perception [PDF]
A schema-based theory of music perception that describes the dynamic interaction between the musical event and the listener’s knowledge of the underlying regularities in tonal music is proposed. Three properties of musical schema are evaluated in a recognition memory experiment: (1) The schema engages a subset of the abstract knowledge system that is ...

Seeing the song: left auditory structures may track auditory-visual dynamic alignment. [PDF]
Auditory and visual signals generated by a single source tend to be temporally correlated, such as the synchronous sounds of footsteps and the limb movements of a walker.

Dynamic musical communication of core affect [PDF]
Is there something special about the way music communicates feelings? Theorists since Meyer (1956) have attempted to explain how music could stimulate varied and subtle affective experiences by violating learned expectancies, or by mimicking other forms of social interaction.

Music can be reconstructed from human auditory cortex activity using nonlinear decoding models
Music is core to human experience, yet the precise neural dynamics underlying music perception remain unknown. We analyzed a unique intracranial electroencephalography (iEEG) dataset of 29 patients who listened to a Pink Floyd song and applied a stimulus
