Dual‐Functionality, Bio‐Friendly Artificial Muscles for Actuation and Motion Sensing in Smart Wearable Systems

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
This work presents a biofriendly carbon nanotube yarn artificial muscle operating either as an in‐air unipolar actuator or as a self‐powered ionotronic strain sensor. Using a non‐volatile eutectogel‐derived electrolyte, the system achieves up to 2.9% contraction and 0.5 mV/% strain sensing sensitivity.

CMesh: A Polymer‐Free Carbon Nanotube Scaffold for Robust TEM Specimen Preparation of Porous Graphene

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
CMesh, a polymer‐free carbon nanotube scaffold, reinforces pristine and pre‐existing porous graphene during TEM specimen preparation while preserving clean suspended imaging windows. The tunable mesh enables high‐yield transfer onto standard grids, atomic‐resolution imaging of nanopores and defects, and in situ observation under demanding microscopy ...

Multi‐Scale Mechanical Behavior of Additive‐Manufactured 316L Stainless Steel Processed by Severe Plastic Deformation

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
The multi‐scale mechanical behavior of additive‐manufactured 316L stainless steel processed by directed energy deposition and high‐pressure torsion is explored. The influence of torsional strain on strength and microstructural evolution is revealed, indicating progressive grain refinement in the ultrafine regime, reaching strength levels nearing 1800 ...

The emergence and complexification of symbolic practices in the Homo lineage: an archaeological and cognitive perspective Émergence et complexification des pratiques symboliques dans la lignée Homo : une approche archéologique et cognitive

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Anthropological Institute, EarlyView.
Recent archaeological discoveries, reviewed in this essay, challenge traditional views on the emergence of human symbolic cognition. Once believed to have originated in Europe around 40,000 years ago, new evidence shows it emerged much earlier across diverse regions.
