E. coli O157:H7- another waterborne outbreak!
The American Journal of Gastroenterology, 2000TO THE EDITOR: E. coli O157:H7 is a major cause of diarrheal illness, and hemorrhagic colitis induced by this organism was initially described in 1983 (1). Healthy cattle are a major reservoir for the organism; however, it has also been isolated from a variety of other animals (2).

An outbreak of E. coli O157 within a prison
British Journal of Infection Control, 2002Escherichia coli O157 can cause a life threatening infection. Over a two-week period in September 2000, 32 prisoners in North Dorset became infected with E. coli O157. None of the staff were affected. An outbreak caused by this organism had occurred in the prison four years previously.
