Therapeutic drug monitoring of antimicrobials in a paediatric setting: A retrospective single‐centre study

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Aims Paediatric pharmacokinetics differ significantly from adults due to age‐related physiological changes, necessitating precise dose adjustments. However, data on therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) implementation in paediatric setting remain limited.

Antibiotic resistance of hospital strains of Enterococcus faecalis and Enterococcus faecium [PDF]

open access: yesVojnosanitetski Pregled, 2002
The aim of this study was to determine the resistance of Enterococcus faecalis (E. faecalis) and Enterococcus faecium (E. faecium) to penicillin, ampicillin, vancomycin, teicoplanin, gentamicin (high level), streptomycin (high level), oxytetracycline ...

Emergence of linezolid resistance in hepatobiliary infections caused by E nterococcus faecium [PDF]

open access: yesLiver Transplantation, 2016
Enterococcal infections are common in liver transplantation and hepatopancreaticobiliary (HPB) surgery. Linezolid is frequently used to treat not only vancomycin‐resistant Enterococcus (VRE), but also vancomycin‐sensitive Enterococcus (VSE) infections, and resistance can develop. This study evaluated all the Liver Unit patients who developed infections

Effects of Lactic Acid Bacteria and Yeasts on Growth Performance, Intestinal Health, and Organ Morphometry of Broiler Chickens

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
The fermentation of molasses‐vinasse with lactic acid bacteria and yeasts improves growth, intestinal health, digestive, and immune organs in chickens, promoting their productive performance and organic development. ABSTRACT This study evaluated the probiotic effects of lactic acid bacteria and yeasts on productive parameters, intestinal health, and ...

Beyond “you are what you eat”: Unlocking gut microbiota‐mediated biotransformation of dietary phytochemicals

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
The “efficacy paradox” of phytochemicals, low bioavailability yet significant health benefits, is associated with gut microbiota, which biotransforms dietary precursors into bioactive metabolites, enabling systemic effects. Thus, health outcomes of diet depend not just on intake “the rainbow”, but on gut microbial metabolism, redefining “you are what ...

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of Enterococcus faecalis and Enterococcus faecium isolated from fish, vegetables, and humans

open access: yesScientific Reports
Enterococci, common hospital-acquired infections in immunocompromised patients, have garnered attention in clinical microbiology. To determine the clinical relevance of enterococci as food-borne pathogens, 116 fish, 90 vegetables, and 120 human diarrheal

L‐EasyARG: A long‐read metagenomics tool for rapid antibiotic‐resistance‐gene profiling

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
L‐EasyARG is a pipeline for long‐read metagenomic profiling of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) and their genetic context. It integrates ARG identification, plasmid and mobile genetic element (MGE) detection, taxonomic classification, and further identifies ARGs carried by human bacterial pathogens (HBPs) defined in the WHO and ESKAPE pathogen lists.
