Protein hydrolysate fraction of Earias insulana Boisd. as affected by methiotepa

Zeitschrift für Angewandte Entomologie, 1974
AbstractThe sterilant methiotepa was applied topically to larvae of the third instar of the spiny bollworm, Earias insulana Boisd. at a concentration of 0.25, 0.5 and 1.0%. This treatment resulted in amino acid depletion in the different stages and sexes. No evidence was found for a direct action of the sterilant against the larval amino acid content ...

Du‐Ter as inhibitor to the reproduction of the spiny bollworm, Earias insulana (Boisd.) (Lep., Noctuidae)

Zeitschrift für Angewandte Entomologie, 1976
AbstractThe adults of the spiny bollworm, Earias insulana (Boisd.) were orally treated with Du‐Ter (47.8% triphenyl‐tin‐hydroxide) at four concentrations i.e. 0.062, 0.125, 0.250 and 0.500%. Du‐Ter noticeably reduced the number and viability of eggs. The sterilizing effect of Du‐Ter was temporary and its intensity decreased as the time elapsed after ...

Effect of three juvenile hormone mimics on the development of Earias insulana Boisduval (Arctiidae, Lepidoptera)

Zeitschrift für Angewandte Entomologie, 1975
AbstractThree juvenile hormone mimics, Altosid (isopropyl 11‐methoxy‐3,7,11‐trimethyl‐2,4‐dodecadienoate), Altozar (ethyl 3,7,11‐trimethyl‐2,4‐dodecadienoate) and ZR‐777 (prop‐2‐ynyl 3,7,11‐trimethyl‐2,4‐dodecadienoate) were topically applied to the thorax of 2nd to 5th instars of Earias insulana Boisduval to deposit a dose of 1 or 10 μg/larva.

Dimilin (TH‐6040): effects on the spiny bollworm, Earias insulana Boisd. (Lepid.: Phalaenidae)

Zeitschrift für Angewandte Entomologie, 1978
AbstractThe effect of Dimilin on the 3rd instar larvae of the spiny bollworm, Earias insulana was studied in the laboratory at 25 ± 2°C and 70 ± 5% RH at Abu‐Ghraib, Iraq. In a different part of the larvae the moulting process could not be completed normally. Inability to completely shedding of the exuviae had been observed.

Sex pheromone traps as a potential means of improving control programs for the spiny bollworm,Earias insulana

Phytoparasitica, 1981
Pheromone traps were reliable for detection and estimation ofEarias insulana (Boisduval) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) adult populations in cotton fields. Due to the aggregated distribution in traps, estimates of moth populations were more accurate at low than at high population levels. The relationship betweenE. insulana male catch and larval density could

MATING ABILITY, LONGEVITY AND FECUNDITY OF THE SPINY BOLLWORM, EARIAS INSULANA (LEPIDOPTERA: NOCTUIDAE)

Entomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, 1977
The mechanisms adopted to ensure mating success, fertility and fecundity of E. insulana (reared in the laboratory on an artificial diet) were studied. Male moths mate only once a night but mate several times (mean 4.2) during their life span. Females will mate up to 3 times per night and an average of 2.6 times over their life span.
