Origins of Molecular Clouds in Early-type Galaxies [PDF]
Abstract We analyze Chandra observations of the hot atmospheres of 40 early spiral and elliptical galaxies. Using new temperature, density, cooling time, and mass profiles, we explore relationships between their hot atmospheres and cold molecular gas.

On the shape of the light profiles of early-type galaxies [PDF]
We have obtained the best fit to the light profiles of a luminosity limited sample of elliptical and S0 galaxies with a power law \rn, letting the exponent remain free rather than keeping it fixed at $1/n=1/4$ as in the well known \GV formula. The introduction of a free parameter in the fitting formula (ranging from $n=0.5$ for $=0.3$ kpc to $n=16$ for

CARBON AND NITROGEN ABUNDANCES IN EARLY-TYPE GALAXIES [PDF]
For the first time, we undertake a systematic examination of the nitrogen abundances for a sample of 35 early-type galaxies spanning a range of masses and local environment. The nitrogen-sensitive molecular feature at 3360Åhas been employed in conjunction with a suite of atomic- and molecular-sensitive indices to provide unique and definitive ...

Hot Gaseous Halos in Early Type Galaxies
The hot gas in early type galaxies (ETGs) plays a crucial role in their formation and evolution. As the hot gas is often extended to the outskirts beyond the optical size, the large scale structural features identified by Chandra (including cavities ...

CLEAR: Survey Overview, Data Analysis, and Products
We present an overview of the CANDELS Ly α Emission At Reionization (CLEAR) survey. CLEAR is a 130 orbit program of the Hubble Space Telescope using the Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3) IR G102 grism.

Morphological Distribution of Galaxies in Some Nearby Clusters
We study the morphological distribution of galaxies in some nearby clusters, using the Sloan Digital Sky Survey – Data Release 9 (SDSS-DR9). The segregation between early-type galaxies and late-type ones is investigated in g – r / u – g color space ...

Age-density relation of Main galaxies at fixed parameters or for different galaxy families
Using two volume-limited Main galaxy samples of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 10 (SDSS DR10), we examine the environmental dependence of galaxy age at fixed parameters or for different galaxy families.

The Initial Mass Function and Other Stellar Properties Across the Core of the Hydra I Cluster
The Hydra I cluster offers an excellent opportunity to study and compare the relic old stellar populations in the core of its two brightest galaxies. In addition, the differing kinematics of the two galaxies allows a test of the local validity of general

Feedback Processes in Early‐Type Galaxies
We present a phenomenological model of feedback in early-type galaxies that tracks the evolution of the interstellar medium gas mass, metallicity, and temperature. Modeling the star formation rate as a Schmidt law with a temperature-dependent efficiency, we find that intermittent episodes of star formation are common in moderate-size ellipticals.

AbstractWe summarise the HI properties of early-type galaxies, in particular the differences in HI morphologies observed in early-type galaxies of different luminosities. We find that in low-luminosity early-type galaxies the HI is almost always in a disk-like structure, with central surface densities high enough for star formation to occur.
