Evolution and Environment of Early-Type Galaxies [PDF]
We study the photometric and spectral properties of 39320 early-type galaxies within the SDSS, as a function of both local environment and redshift. The distance to the nearest cluster of galaxies and the distance to the 10th nearest luminous neighbor were used to define two extremes in environment.

Mergers of Luminous Early-Type Galaxies [PDF]
Galaxy mergers play an important role in many astrophysical processes, such as growth of massive galaxies, triggering AGN, formation of supermassive black hole (SMBH) binaries, and gravitational wave (GW) radiation. Merger rate is one of key quantities for these studies.

SPIRE Spectroscopy of Early-type Galaxies [PDF]
Abstract We present Spectral and Photometric Imaging Receiver (SPIRE) spectroscopy for nine early-type galaxies (ETGs) representing the most CO-rich and far-infrared (FIR) bright galaxies of the volume-limited Atlas3D sample. Our data include detections of mid- to high-J CO transitions (J = 4–3 to J = 13–12) and the [C i] (1–0) and (2–1)

Investigation of the Fundamental Plane Relationship For the Evolution of the Elliptical and Lenticular Galaxies [PDF]
The Fundamental Plane relates the effective radius and surface brightness of an early-type galaxy to its velocity dispersion. It is important in understanding galaxy formation and evolution processes. The present work aims to investigate this relation as

The SAMI Galaxy Survey: kinematics of dusty early-type galaxies [PDF]
Recently, large samples of visually classified early-type galaxies (ETGs) containing dust have been identified using space-based infrared observations with the Herschel Space Telescope. The presence of large quantities of dust in massive ETGs is peculiar as X-ray halos of these galaxies are expected to destroy dust in 10 Myr (or less). This has sparked

Chandra Early-type Galaxy Atlas [PDF]
AbstractThe hot ISM in early-type galaxies (ETGs) plays a crucial role in understanding their formation and evolution. The structural features of the hot gas identified by Chandra observations point to key evolutionary mechanisms, (e.g., kim12).

THE INITIAL MASS FUNCTION OF EARLY-TYPE GALAXIES [PDF]
We determine an absolute calibration of the initial mass function (IMF) of early-type galaxies, by studying a sample of 56 gravitational lenses identified by the SLACS Survey. Under the assumption of standard Navarro, Frenk & White dark matter halos, a combination of lensing, dynamical, and stellar population synthesis models is used to disentangle

Two Candidates for Dual AGN in Dwarf-dwarf Galaxy Mergers
Dual active galactic nuclei (DAGN) are important for understanding galaxy-merger-triggered fueling of black holes and the hierarchical growth of structures.
