Engineering Pendant Group Chemistry to Control Hydrophilicity and Oxidative Degradation of Thioketal‐Based Biomaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Thioketal (TK) polymers are promising biomaterials due to their selective biodegradation by reactive oxygen species (ROS), but they respond slowly to physiologic doses of ROS. Here, the TK bond's pendant groups are modified to enhance the degradation of TK‐based implants both in vitro and in vivo.

Multifunctional Gold Nanocluster‐Based PROTAC System for Targeted Degradation of Phosphorylated Tau and Modulation of Neuroinflammation in Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present a novel proteolysis‐targeting chimera (PROTAC) system conjugated to lipoic acid gold nanoclusters (PLANC), designed to degrade pTau, regulate inflammatory signaling, and effectively traverse the blood‐brain barrier (BBB). PLANC degraded pTau at various phosphorylation sites, with mechanistic studies confirming proteasome‐mediated degradation

Early goal-directed treatment versus standard care in management of early septic shock: Meta-analysis of randomized trials

open access: yes, 2016
Since the incorporation of the early hemodynamic resuscitation in septic shock according to the early goal-directed therapy (EGDT) protocol among the 6-hour resuscitation bundle of the Surviving Sepsis Campaign guidelines, a great debate has been raised ...

Lysosome‐Acidifying Nanoparticles Rescue A30P α‐Synuclein Induced Neuronal Death in Cellular and Drosophila Models of Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Lysosome‐targeted acidic nanoparticles based on a biodegradable poly(ethylene tetrafluorosuccinate‐co‐succinate) copolymer are engineered to restore impaired lysosomal acidification through pH‐responsive intracellular degradation. Localized acid release enhances autophagic proteolysis, reduces α‐synuclein accumulation, and preserves dopaminergic neuron

Haemodynamic goal-directed therapy and postoperative infections: earlier is better. A systematic review and meta-analysis

open access: yes, 2011
Introduction: Infectious complications are the main causes of postoperative morbidity. The early timing of their promoting factors is the rationale for perioperative strategies attempting to reduce them.

Functional Precision Oncology Approach Using Nanoliter Droplet Array for Drug Sensitivity Testing in Lung Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A miniaturized drug sensitivity and resistance testing (DSRT) workflow based on the Droplet Microarray (DMA) platform enables functional drug testing using minimal patient‐derived tumor material. By screening nanoliter‐scale droplets containing as few as 300 cells, this approach generates reproducible and tumor‐specific drug response profiles ...
