A retrospective analysis of the diagnostic utility of endobronchial ultrasound guided–intranodal forceps biopsy (EBUS-IFB) in the evaluation of mediastinal adenopathy

open access: yesThe Egyptian Journal of Bronchology
Background Endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) is the preferred diagnostic modality for evaluating mediastinal lymphadenopathy.

Tracheal Schwannoma Diagnosed by Endobronchial Ultrasound‐Guided Intranodal Forceps Biopsy (EBUS‐IFB)

open access: yesRespirology Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2026.
A 72‐year‐old man had a submucosal mid‐tracheal nodule not diagnosed by endobronchial ultrasound‐guided (EBUS)‐transbronchial needle aspiration alone. EBUS‐intranodal forceps biopsy (IFB) enabled deep‐tissue sampling with preserved architecture, diagnosing tracheal schwannoma.

A retrospective study of endobronchial ultrasound transbronchial needle aspiration versus conventional transbronchial needle aspiration in diagnosis/staging of hilar/mediastinal lymph node in lung cancer: Which role in clinical practice?

open access: yesMonaldi Archives for Chest Disease, 2019
The conventional-trans bronchial needle aspiration (c-TBNA) has been the first procedure for sampling hilar/mediastinal lymph node for the diagnosis/staging of lung cancer. In the last decade the endobronchial ultrasound trans bronchial needle aspiration

Diagnostic value of EBUS-guided transbronchial mediastinal cryobiopsy versus conventional bronchoscopic approaches for stage I/II sarcoidosis: DETECTION-SAR I

open access: yesERJ Open Research
Rationale and objectives A direct comparison between endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA), combined with endobronchial biopsy (EBB) and/or transbronchial lung biopsy (TBLB), and endobronchial ultrasound-guided ...

Minimally invasive mediastinal staging of non-small cell lung cancer [PDF]

open access: yesPrecision and Future Medicine, 2018
Endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) is a minimally invasive procedure widely used for the diagnosis and staging of primary lung cancer.

Isolated Central Nervous System Tuberculosis‐Associated Immune Reconstitution Inflammatory Syndrome—Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesRespirology Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 9, September 2026.
Disseminated tuberculosis in an immunocompetent young male initially improved with anti‐tuberculosis therapy. Early treatment was complicated by drug‐induced liver injury and paradoxical isolated CNS‐TB‐IRIS with new intracranial lesions despite systemic disease regression.

Additional yield of transbronchial cryo-node biopsy over endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration for mediastinal lesions at a tertiary care center in India (COLD-FORCEPS-2 study)

open access: yesMonaldi Archives for Chest Disease
Endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS)-guided mediastinal cryobiopsy is a new modality for sampling mediastinal lymph nodes. The data regarding the diagnostic yield and utility of mediastinal cryobiopsy is still limited.

Clinical efficacy and cost-effectiveness of endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration for preoperative staging of non-small-cell lung cancer: Results of a French prospective multicenter trial (EVIEPEB).

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
This two-step study evaluated the cost-effectiveness of endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) for presurgery staging of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in France (EVIEPEB; ClinicalTrial.gov identifier NCT00960271)

The role of convex probe endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration in the diagnosis of hilar and mediastinal lesions

open access: yesThe Egyptian Journal of Bronchology, 2020
Background Endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) has been recently introduced as a new technique for sampling the hilar/ mediastinal lesions [lymph node (LN) enlargement or masses] with a potential to improve the ...
