Control of two sucking insect pests, a whitefly (Bemisia tabaci) and a thrips (Frankliniella occidentalis), infesting hot peppers by spraying LDH‐formulated dsRNA

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 12, Page 8163-8178, December 2025.
A vacuolar type ATPase subunit B (vATPase‐B) gene is identified and expressed in the midgut of Bemisia tabaci and Frankliniella occidentalis. The double‐stranded RNA (dsRNA) specific to vATPase‐B was expressed in hot peppers by virus‐induced gene silencing (VIGS) and killed both whitefly and thrips.

Differential gene expression in Chorthippus parallelus (Zetterstedt, 1821) (Orthoptera: Acrididae: Gomphocerinae) induced by Wolbachia infection

open access: yesInsect Science, Volume 32, Issue 6, Page 2105-2124, December 2025.
Distinct lineages of the grasshopper Chorthippus parallelus (Orthoptera: Acrididae) form a well‐known hybrid zone (HZ) in the Pyrenees mountain range; the Iberian endemism C. p. erythropus (Cpe) and the subspecies C. p. parallelus, (Cpp) widely distributed throughout the rest of Europe. Both subspecies differ in diverse traits, including the strains of

Role of Methoprene-tolerant (Met) in adult morphogenesis and in adult ecdysis of Blattella germanica. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Juvenile Hormone (JH) represses metamorphosis of young instars in insects. One of the main players in hormonal signalling is Methoprene-tolerant (Met), which plays the role of JH receptor.

Molecular characterization of the singed wings locus of Drosophila melanogaster. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
BACKGROUND: Hormones frequently guide animal development via the induction of cascades of gene activities, whose products further amplify an initial hormonal stimulus.

Identification of genes influencing dendrite morphogenesis in developing peripheral sensory and central motor neurons. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
BACKGROUND: Developing neurons form dendritic trees with cell type-specific patterns of growth, branching and targeting. Dendrites of Drosophila peripheral sensory neurons have emerged as a premier genetic model, though the molecular mechanisms that ...

Population Genomics of Incipient Allochronic Divergence in the Pine Processionary Moth

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, Volume 34, Issue 24, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Allochronic divergence is a key evolutionary mechanism that can frequently lead to incipient speciation. Although theoretical models suggest that such divergence is notably facilitated by small population size and genetic polymorphisms influencing reproductive timing, though constrained by genetic load, empirical validation remains limited. We

DNA affects ligand binding of the ecdysone receptor of Drosophila melanogaster [PDF]

open access: yesMolecular and Cellular Endocrinology, 2009
The heterodimers of all three ecdysone receptor (EcR) isoforms with Ultraspiracle (Usp), the invertebrate orthologue of RXR, bind Ponasterone A with the same affinity in the absence of DNA. Ligand binding is stimulated by ecdysone response elements (EcREs) to different degrees depending on the receptor isoform, the heterodimerization partner, and the ...

Steroid hormone induction of temporal gene expression in Drosophila brain neuroblasts generates neuronal and glial diversity

open access: yeseLife, 2017
An important question in neuroscience is how stem cells generate neuronal diversity. During Drosophila embryonic development, neural stem cells (neuroblasts) sequentially express transcription factors that generate neuronal diversity; regulation of the ...

Epigenetic regulation affects gene amplification in Drosophila development

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioscience-Landmark, 2020
In Drosophila melanogaster, in response to developmental transcription factors, and by repeated initiation of DNA replication of four chorion genes, ovarian follicle cells, form an onion skin-type structure at the replication origins. The DNA replication

Functional Study of Ecdysone Signaling Pathway Related Genes During Ovarian Maturation and Juvenile Development of The Mud Crab, Scylla paramamosain [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
