The phytosteroid ecdysterone and its metabolites were detected in reasonable amounts in humans after ingestion of quinoa. Future potential of therapeutical applications should be investigated. Abstract The phytosteroid ecdysterone is classified as an anabolic agent and has been included on the monitoring list of the World Anti‐Doping Agency since 2020.
