Fatal germination in barnyardgrass (Echinochloa crus-galli) [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Protection Science, 2013
Seeds of weeds buried by tillage may germinate at depths from which seedlings cannot establish. In barnyardgrass (Echinochloa crus-galli) we investigated how fatal germination was influenced by the depth and time of seed burial.

Quinclorac Resistance in Echinochloa crus-galli from China

open access: yesRice Science, 2019
Echinochloa crus-galli is a major weed in rice fields in China, and quinclorac has been long used for its control. Over-reliance of quinclorac has resulted in quinclorac resistance in E. crus-galli. Two resistant (R) E. crus-galli populations from Hunan,

About the interplay of sensitive and resistant biotypes in weed populations - simulation exercises for Echinochloa crus-galli in maize crops [PDF]

open access: yesJulius-Kühn-Archiv, 2016
Weed species easily establish in crops with a similar life cycle. Especially mono-cropping provides best conditions for such weeds. In maize this is true for Echinochloa crus-galli, which is a C4 plant and one of the worst weeds worldwide.

Post-Emergence Water-Dispersal Application Provides Equal Herbicidal Activity against Echinochloa crus-galli and Rice Safety as Foliar Spraying of Penoxsulam. [PDF]

open access: yesPlants (Basel), 2023
Penoxsulam is an acetolactate synthase (ALS)-inhibiting herbicide usually applied by post-emergence foliar spraying (PFS) for the control of Echinochloa crus-galli and numerous annual weeds in paddy fields.

Allelopathy of Barnyardgrass (Echinochloa crus-galli L. Beauv. var. crus-galli).

open access: bronzeJournal of Weed Science and Technology, 1992
Barnyardgrass (Echinochloa crusgalli L. Beauv. var. crus-galli) is a very serious weed throughout the world. Its allelopathy through its root exudates was studied. The cultural solution of barnyardgrass showed strong inhibition on seedling growth of lettuce and mung bean.

Metabolic Resistance to Acetyl-CoA Carboxylase-Inhibiting Herbicide Cyhalofop-Butyl in a Chinese Echinochloa crus-galli Population [PDF]

open access: goldAgronomy, 2022
A population of Echinochloa crus-galli (L.) P. Beauv obtained from direct-seeding rice fields in Jiangxi Province, China, exhibited high resistance levels (13.5-fold) to the acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACCase)-inhibiting herbicide cyhalofop-butyl.

Flooding tolerance in the major rice weed Echinochloa crus-galli [PDF]

open access: bronze, 2022
Unlike most crops, rice is flooding tolerant and this feature has been exploited for weed management in rice fields. Flooding of rice fields prevents weed establishment, while rice remains unaffected. However, the recent emergence of certain endemic weed species adapted to submergence has decreased the effectiveness of this weeding method.

Distribution of Glyphosate-Resistance in Echinochloa crus-galli Across Agriculture Areas in the Iberian Peninsula. [PDF]

open access: yesFront Plant Sci, 2021
The levels of resistance to glyphosate of 13 barnyard grass (Echinochloa crus-galli) populations harvested across different agriculture areas in the Southern Iberian Peninsula were determined in greenhouse and laboratory experiments.

Allelopathic and Herbicidal Effects of Crude Extract from Chromolaena odorata (L.) R.M.King and H.Rob. on Echinochloa crus-galli and Amaranthus viridis. [PDF]

open access: yesPlants (Basel), 2021
The present study was aimed at investigating the allelopathic effects of a crude extract from Chromolaena odorata (L.) R.M.King and H.Rob. (Siam weed). The effects of 70% crude ethanol extract from the whole plant, leaf, stem, and root on the germination
