Comparing past accumulation rate reconstructions in East Antarctic ice cores using 10Be, water isotopes and CMIP5-PMIP3 models [PDF]

open access: yesClimate of the Past, 2015
Ice cores are exceptional archives which allow us to reconstruct a wealth of climatic parameters as well as past atmospheric composition over the last 800 kyr in Antarctica.

Yeast Edc3 Targets RPS28B mRNA for Decapping by Binding to a 3′ Untranslated Region Decay-Inducing Regulatory Element [PDF]

open access: yesMolecular and Cellular Biology, 2014
mRNA decapping commits a transcript to complete turnover in eukaryotic cells. In yeast, general mRNA decapping requires the Dcp1/Dcp2 decapping enzyme and a set of decapping activators, including Pat1, Dhh1, Edc3, and the Lsm1-7 complex. The exact function and mode of action of each of these decapping activators in mRNA decapping largely remain elusive.

A Microphysiological Interface of Skeletal Myobundles and Inflamed Adipose Tissue for Recapitulating Muscle Dysfunction in an Obese Microenvironment

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 15, Issue 5, 2 February 2026.
A human cell‐based microphysiological system integrates engineered muscle tissues with an inflamed adipose–macrophage niche to model obese microenvironment‐induced muscle dysfunction. Muscle contraction is quantified by pillar deflection coupled with computational stiffness estimation. Secretome and transcriptomic profiling reveal inflammation‐mediated

Biostimulants in plant brassinosteroid hormone receptor BRI1 activation—a new system to evaluate activation capacity

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, Volume 293, Issue 3, Page 677-697, February 2026.
Biostimulants improve plant growth and have shown promise in agronomic applications and boosting crop yield. Because biostimulants typically present as a mixture of active components, new methods are required to characterize their mode of action. Here, we describe a novel assay that evaluates plant biostimulants targeting the brassinosteroid receptor ...

Maternal Diet‐Induced Excess Adiposity in Mice Disrupts Mid‐Gestation Decidual Immune and Vascular Homeostasis Without Impairing Spiral Artery Remodeling

open access: yesActa Physiologica, Volume 241, Issue 12, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Aim Maternal excess adiposity (i.e., overweight/obesity) is linked to impaired uteroplacental perfusion, compromised placental development, and increased risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes. Inflammation and immune dysregulation accompanying excess adiposity may disrupt leukocyte‐mediated tissue remodeling and immunoregulation, contributing to ...

Distinct roles for Caf1, Ccr4, Edc3 and CutA in the co‐ordination of transcript deadenylation, decapping and P‐body formation in Aspergillus nidulans [PDF]

open access: yesMolecular Microbiology, 2010
SummaryTranscript degradation is a key step in gene regulation. In eukaryotes, mRNA decay is generally initiated by removal of the poly(A) tail mediated by the Ccr4–Caf1–Not complex. Deadenylated transcripts are then rapidly degraded, primarily via the decapping‐dependent pathway.

Decapping stimulators, Edc3, Pat1, Edc1, and Edc2 do not promote NMD.

open access: yes, 2013
(A) NMD of the galactose-inducible reporter transcript containing a PTC, gal-PGK1c103, was assessed in a wild-type and an edc3Δ pat1Δ double deletion strain over the course of one hour.

Liquid–Liquid Phase Separation: Mechanisms, Roles, and Implications in Cellular Function and Disease

open access: yesFASEB BioAdvances, Volume 7, Issue 11, November 2025.
Liquid–liquid phase separation (LLPS) is a fundamental biophysical process responsible for forming membraneless organelles involved in key cellular functions like chromatin organization and gene expression. Dysregulation of LLPS contributes to various diseases, including neurodegenerative disorders.

Edc3, Upf2 and Pat1 all interact with the N-terminal domain of Upf1; Edc3 and Upf2 do so in an overlapping, but not identical manner.

open access: yes, 2013
(A and B) Dcp2 (102–300), Edc3 FL, Upf2 Ct, and Pat1 Ct were all assessed for their ability to interact with Upf1 Nt (WT) by yeast two-hybrid analysis.
