Analysis of eddy-current brakes for high speed railway

The analysis of eddy-current brakes for a high-speed railway is described that shows the operational characteristics of the brake as function of the train speed up to 300 km/hr and of the DC magnetizing current of magnetic poles. Braking forces are generated by employing a DC excitation field for the poles moving 7 mm above the rails.

An Alternative Approach for Calculation of Braking Force of an Eddy-Current Brake

Here, we compare our results with test results and numerical results of the finite-element code ANSYS 11.0. An analytical dynamic model of eddy-current brakes

This paper examines eddy-current brakes. Our aim is to model the brake and estimate its braking power. We focused on a static model, in which the flux density distribution on the eddy current surface was calculated using finite element methods. Next, we derived a dynamic model whose eddy currents were computed by means of an analytical expression.
