Performance Enhancement in L-Band Edfa Through Dual Stage Technique

open access: yesInternational Islamic University Malaysia Engineering Journal, 2012
An experiment on gain enhancement in the long wavelength band erbium doped fiber amplifier (L-band EDFA) is demonstrated. It uses a dual stage technique with dual forward pumping scheme. Compared to a conventional single stage amplifier, the small signal

Digitally Tunable Dispersion Controller Using Low‐Loss Silicon Nitride Multimode Waveguide Gratings

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 8, 24 April 2026.
A digitally tunable dispersion controller (DTDC) using low‐loss silicon nitride multimode waveguide gratings is demonstrated. Utilizing cascaded chirped multimode waveguide gratings and Mach–Zehnder switches, the device achieves a tuning range of 0–49.72 ps/nm with 1.60 ps/nm steps over a 26‐nm bandwidth.

Nonlinear optics of fibre event horizons [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The nonlinear interaction of light in an optical fibre can mimic the physics at an event horizon. This analogue arises when a weak probe wave is unable to pass through an intense soliton, despite propagating at a different velocity.

Sensitivity Evaluation for Global Perturbations in Non‐Hermitian Skin‐Effect Sensors

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 5, 16 March 2026.
Non‐Hermitian sensing against local and global noise. Conventional non‐Hermitian sensors focus on sensitivity against a static local boundary defect. Our work extends that framework to detect global perturbations. Using synthetic photonic lattices, we experimentally verify that sensitivity to global static and dynamic disorder scales exponentially with

COMPARISON OF ASE SPECTRUMS OF SINGLE PASS AND DOUBLE PASS Er, Yb, Er-Yb DOPED FIBER AMPLIFIERS

open access: yesGazi Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri Dergisi
In this study, the amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) spectra of Erbium (EDFA), Ytterbium (YDFA), and Erbium-Ytterbium (EYDFA) doped optical amplifiers were obtained in single-pass and double-pass simulation setups, compared and interpreted with each ...

Experimental Demonstration of Unified Kerr Nonlinear Effective Lengths for Gallium Phosphide‐On‐Insulator Photonic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2026.
The four‐wave mixing conversion efficiencies of both the waveguides and the microresonators exhibit a well‐correlated relation versus their effective lengths, confirming the unified theoretical framework. These experimentally validated findings offer a fresh perspective on Kerr nonlinearity and pave the way toward advancing the development of highly ...

Brillouin Optical Correlation‐Domain Reflectometry With Polymer Fibers Under Scrambled Polarization Enabled by Angled Connections

open access: yesAdvanced Sensor Research, Volume 5, Issue 2, February 2026.
Polymer optical fibers enable flexible distributed sensing but suffer from reflection noise. This study shows that angled physical contact connectors suppress Fresnel reflections, allowing polarization scrambling in Brillouin optical correlation‐domain reflectometry.
