Electrical Transport Characteristics of Vertical GaN Schottky-Barrier Diode in Reverse Bias and Its Numerical Simulation

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
We investigated the temperature-dependent reverse characteristics (JR-VR-T) of vertical GaN Schottky-barrier diodes with and without a fluorine-implanted edge termination (ET).

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Engineering the coordination environment of Ni and Pd dual active sites for promoting the oxygen reduction reaction

open access: yesScientific Reports
Precisely regulating active sites is vital for promoting the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) activity. Here we reported highly active Ni-Pd co-doped N-coordinated graphene towards ORR achieved by edge termination and O doping.

Local chemical bonding and structural properties in Ti_{3}AlC_{2} MAX phase and Ti_{3}C_{2}T_{x} MXene probed by Ti 1s x-ray absorption spectroscopy

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2020
The chemical bonding within the transition-metal carbide materials MAX phase Ti_{3}AlC_{2} and MXene Ti_{3}C_{2}T_{x} is investigated by x-ray absorption near-edge structure (XANES) and extended x-ray absorption fine-structure (EXAFS) spectroscopies. MAX

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Bulk-and-edge to corner correspondence

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2020
We show that two-dimensional band insulators, with vanishing bulk polarization, obey bulk-and-edge to corner charge correspondence, stating that the knowledge of the bulk and the two corresponding ribbon band structures uniquely determines a fractional ...

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Geometrical Mesh Improvement Properties of Delaunay Terminal Edge Refinement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The use of edge based refinement in general, and Delaunay terminal edge refinement in particular are well established for adaptive meshing, but largely on a heuristic basis. In this paper, we present some theoretical results on geometric improvement, and it limitations, for these methods.
