Evaluation of the influence of the degree of saturation, measuring time and use of a conductive paste on the determination of thermal conductivity of normal and lightweight concrete using the hot-wire method

open access: yesMateriales de Construccion, 2021
The determination of thermal conductivity of cement-based materials is relevant from the perspective of buildings’ energy efficiency. The absence of unified tests for its measurement in mortars and concrete results in a heterogeneity of the data ...

Incidence of Alkali Release in Concrete Dams. Evaluation of Alkalis Releasable by Feldspars

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
Alkali release from aggregates can constitute a source of alkalis in concrete exposed to wet environments for long periods of time. Feldspars are one of the minerals that can release alkalis to the concrete with time.

Modeling of Corrosion Rate and Resistivity of Steel Reinforcement of Calcium Aluminate Cement Mortar

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, Volume 2018, Issue 1, 2018., 2018
Calcium aluminate cement (CAC) is a binder whose hydrated compounds change over time from cubic phases to hexagonal phases, producing an increase of porosity in reinforced concretes. Thereby, chloride ions, among other steel corrosion promoters, can enter the concrete more easily leading to an increase of the reinforcement corrosion process.
