Examining emergency department inequities in Aotearoa New Zealand: Findings from a national retrospective observational study examining Indigenous emergency care outcomes. [PDF]

open access: yesEmerg Med Australas, 2022
This retrospective observational study used a Kaupapa Māori framework to investigate ED admissions into 18/20 District Health Boards in Aotearoa New Zealand (2006–2012). Despite some ED process measures being positive for Māori, for example arrival to assessment time and access block, others showed no difference, for example self‐discharge.

A hybrid Harrison Hawk optimization based on differential evolution for the node localization problem in IoT networks

open access: yesInternational Journal of Communication Systems, Volume 35, Issue 9, June 2022., 2022
The paper presents a node localization optimization scheme using a hybrid bio‐inspired algorithm called Harris Hawks Optimization Algorithm based on differential evolution (HHODE). It is shown that the proposed paradigm is capable of increasing the localization rate, as well as minimizing the computing cost.

Modification of the EEDI for Ro-ro Passenger Ships [PDF]

open access: yesSNAME Maritime Convention and 5th World Maritime Technology Conference, 2015
In the 3rd IMO GHG study the new data on the ships emissions indicate a clear need for improvements in ship energy efficiency in order to preserve the environment. Although the majority of the pollution originates from the international shipping, the environmental impact of the short-sea shipping, primarily from ro-ro passenger ships, should not be ...

Reanalysis of the Revised EEDI Parameters for Inland Ships of Bangladesh [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part M: Journal of Engineering for the Maritime Environment, 2022
Abstract Background A revision of the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) formulation was previously proposed to be useful for inland ships of Bangladesh. The study had incorporated the shallow water effect using Schlichting’s method, however, the evaluation and presentation of Schlichting’s results did not cover all range of ship ...
