Largely Enhanced Out-Of-Plane Electromechanical Coupling Effects in Two-Dimensional Molybdenum-Disulfide/Boron-Nitride Heterostructures

open access: yes
The electromechanical coupling effects in two-dimensional (2D) transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) have attracted great interest. However, for 2D TMDs, piezoelectricity is confined to the basal plane, and the flexoelectricity-derived out-of-plane ...

Phase Diagrams and Piezoelectric Properties of Wurtzite Al1−x−yScxGdyN Heterostructural Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates ferroelectricity and piezoelectric properties improvement of quaternary wurtzite Al1−x−yScxGdyN${\rm Al}_{1-x-y}{\rm Sc}_x{\rm Gd}_y{\rm N}$ films, guided by density functional theory calculations. Wurtzite Al1−x−yScxGdyN${\rm Al}_{1-x-y}{\rm Sc}_x{\rm Gd}_y{\rm N}$ films have a high optical bandgap, enhanced piezoelectric ...

Polarization‐Enabled Piezoelectric Tellurium–Selenium (TexSe1–x) Thin Films for Memory Switching and Artificial Synaptic Functions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate and investigate polarization‐enabled electromechanical responses in cryogenic physical vapor deposition (cryogenic PVD)‐deposited TexSe1‐x thin films, a tellurium‐based compound with a tunable bandgap and enhanced non‐centrosymmetry.

Design and fabrication of Lamb wave resonators using finite element method (FEM)

open access: yes, 2022
In this study, the Finite Element Method (FEM) was used to simulate the Lamb wave resonators (LWRs) and their characteristics were discussed. By fixing the thickness of the piezoelectric layer and adjusting the electrode parameters, the effective ...

Magnetoelectric Nanoparticle‐Based Wireless Brain–Computer Interface: Underlying Physics and Projected Technology Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Magnetoelectric nanoparticles (MENPs) enable fully wireless, minutely invasive neuromodulation, and potentially neural recording, by converting magnetic into electric and, conversely, electric into magnetic fields, respectively, at high spatiotemporal resolution.

Interlayer‐Sliding‐Enabled Multiferroicity and Giant Switchable Anomalous Hall Conductivity in RuO2Zn2F2 Bilayer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Interlayer sliding in the RuO2Zn2F2 bilayer induces ferroelectricity and enables reversible valley polarization switching. The electric dipole and valley‐resolved band edges are intimately coupled, revealing sliding ferroelectricity as a powerful mechanism for electrical control of valley degrees of freedom in 2D materials.
