Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

Estimation of effective reproduction numbers for infectious diseases using serological survey data [PDF]

The effective reproduction number of an infection, denoted Re, may be used to monitor the impact of a vaccination programme. If Re is maintained below 1, then sustained endemic transmission of the infection cannot occur. In this paper we discuss methods for estimating Re from serological survey data, allowing for age and individual heterogeneity.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.
