Effects of extended storage on egg quality factors

open access: yesPoultry Science, 2005
Eggs were collected from a single inline processing facility weekly for 3 wk (replicates). The eggs were stored at 4 degrees C and 80% RH. Sampling began the day after collection and continued each week for 10 wk. During analysis, 24 eggs were examined for egg weight, albumen height, Haugh units (HU), shell strength, and vitelline membrane strength for

Effects of cold-water egg shell washing on Salmonella contamination in the shell and its contents

open access: yesThe Journal of Qazvin University of Medical Sciences, 2018
Background: Egg shell washing is one of the simple and inexpensive methods using by many people to clean egg shells. Objective: In this study, the effects of egg shell washing (with 5° C water) on salmonella contamination of shell and its contents was

Androgen Receptor‐Induced Lactoferrin Accelerates Prostate Tumorigenesis Through Modulating Ferroptosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that transcription factor androgen receptor (AR) directly binds the LF promoter, driving lactoferrin overexpression to promote ferritin (FTH1/FTL) upregulation and inhibit p53‐ALOX12‐mediated ferroptosis in prostate cancer. Lactoferrin could be a new potential therapeutic target in prostate cancer.

The effect of storage and strain of hen on egg quality

open access: yesPoultry Science, 2000
Eggs from 31-wk-old ISA-White and ISA-Brown hens were sampled immediately after lay and after periods of storage of 1, 3, 5, and 10 d at room temperature. Longer periods of storage resulted in lower albumen weight and albumen height and higher albumen pH.

Quantitative Mass Spectrometry‐Based Biodistribution of Monoclonal Antibodies: An Alternative to Radio‐Biodistribution

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Monoclonal antibodies are powerful anticancer therapeutics targeting tumor‐associated antigens. Mass spectrometry enables precise and accurate quantification of mAbs in tumor plasma and healthy organs. Unlike ligand binding assay and radioactivity, mass spectrometry does not suffer from matrix effects and labelling artefacts while facilitating method ...

The quality of duck eggs at different lengths of storage by the addition of Tilapia fish oil and noni fruit extract to the feed

open access: yesJurnal Ilmu Peternakan Terapan
This study aimed to determine the effect of the addition of tilapia oil and noni fruit extract to duck feed on egg quality at different storage times. A total of 80 duck eggs were used as research material using the factorial complete randomized design (

Two Routes to Land: Genomic Underpinnings of Parallel Aerial Egg Deposition in Aquatic Old‐World Pila and New‐World Pomacea (Ampullariidae)

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Comparative genomics of Gondwana‐diverged Pila and Pomacea reveals parallel evolution of aerial oviposition. Convergent chromosomal rearrangements reshape regulatory landscapes within topologically associating domains. Lineage‐specific gene family expansions and viral‐derived perivitelline proteins (PV1) underpin desiccation resistance.

Effect of hot red pepper supplementation and different storage time on hens egg quality

open access: yesAgronomía Mesoamericana
Introduction. Eggs are a food source of protein that easily deteriorates during storage. Supplementation of hot red chilli pepper powder rich in bioactive compounds in diets for laying hens can improve egg quality and prevent egg deterioration during ...

tBid‐Mediated Genetic Ablation of Connective Tissue Cells Reveals Their Key Regulatory Function During Limb Regeneration in Axolotls

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We establish a tBid‐mediated cell ablation system in axolotls, achieve rapid and efficient ablation of multiple cell types, including muscle stem cell, spinal cord cell, and connective tissue (CT) cells. We investigate the role of CT using tBid‐mediated CT ablation and identify its essential role for limb development and regeneration.

Thermal requirements of Ceraeochrysa cubana (Neuroptera: chrysopidae) embryonic period submitted to artificial diets at adult stage

open access: yesBioscience Journal, 2018
Green lacewings can be mass reared to market their eggs. The ideal temperature is a main factor for egg storage or scheduling of insect production. This study aimed to evaluate the influence of Ceraeochrysa cubana adult feeding on incubation period and ...
