EGGSHELL AND EGG CONTENT TRAITS IN PEKING DUCK EGGS FROM THE P44 RESERVE FLOCK RAISED IN POLAND [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The egg quality of Peking ducks was evaluated on three different dates (the beginning, peak, end) of the first egg laying period. During the laying period the following increases were noted: in egg weight (from 71.7 to 86.7 g), in length (from 61.9 to 65.

Effect of Egg Yolk Size on Yolk Cholesterol Concentration.

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1963
SummaryWithin a line of birds, there was an inverse relation between size of the yolk and cholesterol concentration of the yolk. On a dry weight basis there was a difference between the regression coefficients for 2 strains with respect to yolk cholesterol. A differential rate of cholesterol transfer into the follicle existed between strains.

Effect of Dietary Marine Microalgae (Schizochytrium) Powder on Egg Production, Blood Lipid Profiles, Egg Quality, and Fatty Acid Composition of Egg Yolk in Layers

open access: yesAsian-Australasian Journal of Animal Sciences, 2015
Two hundred and sixteen Institut de Sélection Animale (ISA) brown layers (40 wks of age) were studied for 6 wks to examine the effect of microalgae powder (MAP) on egg production, egg quality, blood lipid profile, and fatty acid concentration of egg yolk.

Advancing design strategies in smart stimulus‐responsive liposomes for drug release and nanomedicine

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
Schematic illustration of stimulus‐responsive liposomes designed for controlled drug release and nanomedicine. The innermost circle represents different liposomal structures, including unilamellar, multilamellar, and multivesicular liposomes. The middle layer illustrates the responsive phospholipid components.

Antioxidant and ACE Inhibitory Bioactive Peptides Purified from Egg Yolk Proteins

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2015
Protein by-products from the extraction of lecithin from egg yolk can be converted into value-added products, such as bioactive hydrolysates and peptides that have potential health enhancing antioxidant, and antihypertensive properties.

Why we age

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Three categories of explanations exist for why we age: mechanistic theories, which omit reference to evolutionary forces; weakening force of selection theories, which posit that barriers exist that prevent evolutionary forces from optimising fitness in ageing; and optimisation theories, which posit that evolutionary forces actually select for ...

Application of Conductivity Combined with Various Other Instrumental Analyses in the Detection of the Freshness and Yolk-to-White Ratio of Liquid Egg [PDF]

open access: yesShipin Kexue
This study established a rapid and efficient technique to detect the freshness and yolk-to-white ratio of liquid egg based on conductivity combined with salinity, total dissolved solids (TDS), pH, and color parameters. The results showed that during the

The Influence of Drosophila Spire and Myosin V During Mid‐Oogenesis Is Independent of Their Direct Interaction

open access: yesCytoskeleton, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Cooperativity between cytoskeletal proteins is crucial for spatiotemporal coordination in biological processes, like oogenesis. In mammalian and Drosophila oogenesis, proper assembly and function of actin networks require coordination between actin assembly factors Spire and formins, as well as actin‐associated proteins like myosins and Rab ...
