Traits of eggshells and shell membranes of translucent eggs

open access: yesPoultry Science, 2017
Translucent eggshells negatively affect the appearance of eggs and decrease their economic value. Translocation and accumulation of water from the contents to the shells of eggs are frequent occurrences. Causes of translucent eggshell formation have been investigated, but the primary reason is uncertain.

White Isthmus Transcriptome Analysis Reveals the Mechanism of Translucent Eggshell Formation

open access: yesAnimals
The presence of translucent eggshells is a type of egg quality issue that impacts egg sales. While many researchers have studied them, the exact mechanisms behind their formation remain unclear. In this study, we conducted a transcriptomic differential expression analysis of the isthmus region of the oviduct in both normal egg- and translucent egg ...

A comprehensive embryonic staging series of the turtle Trachemys scripta

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Turtles hold a unique place in vertebrate evolutionary history, making them critical assets in embryology research. Yet, they remain understudied as potential model organisms in the field. Here, to support experimental manipulations with turtle embryos, we have created a complete normal table of development for comprehensive ...

How I Do It: Middle Fossa Approach of Facial Nerve Decompression

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
We present a reproducible, stepwise middle fossa approach for facial nerve decompression focused on the labyrinthine segment, geniculate ganglion, and meatal foramen, with consistent anatomical landmarks to preserve hearing. The article and video detail patient setup, safe corridor creation, and retrograde drilling with practical tips to avoid cochlear

Semidiaphanam Tremuli Narcissuli Ideam Lacteam1: Ehrenfried Walther von Tschirnhaus (1651–1708) and His Determined Search for the Porcelain Principle

open access: yesArchaeometry, Volume 68, Issue 1, Page 120-131, February 2026.
ABSTRACT With this contribution, an attempt is being made to chart the timeline of the invention of the European hard‐paste porcelain based on historical documents. They were evaluated to trace the development lines from Tschirnhaus's early experiments with burning mirrors and lenses in the 1680s to finding ‘wax porcelain’ around 1694 to the ...

Gallibacterium anatis Emerging in Indonesia: Isolation and Molecular Characterization From Chickens in a West Java Poultry Farm

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine International, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Gallibacterium anatis (G. anatis) is associated with decreased egg production and respiratory disorders in chickens. The presence of G. anatis in Indonesia has not been reported. This study aimed to identify G. anatis both phenotypically and genotypically in layer, broiler, and breeder chicken from farms in West Java.

Pioneering Hormone‐Induced Breeding of Esomus danricus in Bangladesh: A Milestone for Conservation and Reproduction

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 5, Issue 6, December 2025.
ABSTRACT This study focuses on inducing spawning in the vulnerable fish species Esomus danricus using pituitary gland (PG) extract. Both male and female fish received intramuscular pituitary gland injections in a 1:1 ratio. Female fish were administered doses of 4 (T1), 6 (T2), and 8 mg kg−1 (T3), while male fish received a consistent dose of 2 mg kg−1

Starch‐Based Scaffolds for Cultivated Meat Production: Challenges and Perspectives

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, Volume 24, Issue 6, November 2025.
ABSTRACT The advancement of cultured meat depends on the development of structures that combine biological compatibility, edibility, sensory acceptance, and large‐scale feasibility. In this context, starch emerges as an abundant, low‐cost, and food‐grade biopolymer, uniquely positioned for applications in food systems.

CRISPR/Cas: An emerging molecular technology for biological control of fall armyworm

open access: yesNew Plant Protection, Volume 2, Issue 1, March 2025.
The application of clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR)/CRISPR‐associated (Cas) for controlling agricultural pests, including fall armyworm, is still facing technological, ethical, and biosafety challenges. This review briefly discusses some major challenges and highlights ongoing multidisciplinary progress made to enable ...
