Vermicomposting of organic wastes using Eisenia foetida (Savigny)
International Journal of Environment and Waste Management, 2013An experiment was carried out in vermibeds to evaluate the suitability of organic wastes for vermicomposting using Eisenia foetida. The results indicate that nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium were maximum in the vermicompost formed from treatment T12, followed by T3. Calcium and Sulphur were observed maximum in T3.

Microbial community indigenous to the earthworm Eisenia foetida
Biology and Fertility of Soils, 2000Microbial populations of the earthworm Eisenia foetida, their casts and farmyard manure (FYM) in which E. foetida had lived were enumerated with the dilution plate method using several media. The microbial community of earthworms appeared to be similar to that of the FYM in which they had lived, while that of earthworms starved in distilled water for ...

Relative toxicities of chemicals to the earthworm Eisenia foetida
Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, 1984Abstract In the present study, 90 chemicals were tested against Eisenia foetida for the purpose of using this organism as the marker species to indicate the relative toxicities of chemicals to earthworms and other soil invertebrates.

Reproductive potential of the earthworm Eisenia foetida
Oecologia, 1979Regression equations are provided for the earthworm Eisenia foetida with respect to age at which 50% of the population became clitellate at 25° C in relation to population density in activated sludge and in horse manure. Regression equations are provided for progeny per cocoon versus weight of cocoon, and weight of cocoon in relation to weight of ...

Adhesins of Immunoglobulin-like Superfamily from Earthworm Eisenia foetida
General Pharmacology: The Vascular System, 19981. From the biologically active extract (G-90) isolated from the tissue homogenate of Eisenia foetida immunoglobulin-like structures were isolated and named G-90/4. 2. G-90/4 in nanogram concentrations stimulated cell proliferation more than did the original G-90. It lyses cells in microgram concentrations. 3.
