Mechanopharmacology of cellular microenvironment stiffness: Therapeutic strategies for age‐related diseases

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Ageing brings about various biochemical, structural and mechanical alterations within tissues, profoundly impacting cellular behaviour and function. One of the hallmark changes observed with ageing is an increase in cellular microenvironment stiffness, a biomechanical property influenced by intrinsic factors within the cell and extrinsic factors from ...

Cytochrome P450 1A1 influences obesity‐induced pulmonary hypertension

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Background and Purpose The contribution of obesity to pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) pathophysiology remains poorly understood. Adipose tissue synthesises estrogens via cytochrome P450 (CYP) 19A1 (aromatase), whereas circulating estrogens are metabolised in the lung by CYP1A1.

Pulmonary Vascular Endothelial Cells in Lung Diseases: Mechanisms, Therapeutic Strategies, and Future Directions

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
The pathogenic mechanisms of pulmonary vascular endothelial cells (VECs) in lung diseases and their multimodal therapeutic strategies. ABSTRACT Pulmonary vascular endothelial cells (VECs) are essential for the normal function of the lung, through maintaining vascular barrier integrity, regulating blood flow, and participating in inflammatory responses ...

Acne tarda: Recommendations for classification, treatment and care as a result of an expert discussion

open access: yesJDDG: Journal der Deutschen Dermatologischen Gesellschaft, EarlyView.
Summary Acne tarda is defined in the literature as adult acne, which according to most authors occurs in women aged 25 and older. However, the definitions and age groups vary depending on the study. Current guidelines rarely address adult acne. In this review, current studies and the literature on acne tarda are analyzed and evaluated by German experts.

Principal mechanisms of extracellular matrix‐mediated cell–cell communication in physiological and tumor microenvironments

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Intracellular communication controls the processing of generated signals so that every cell type can successfully respond. The extracellular matrix (ECM) is a fundamental regulator of cell communication and signaling through the strict orchestration and functions of its bioactive components.
