Tribological properties of real foods using extended Stribeck curves and their relationship with nutritional and rheological parameters

open access: yesJournal of Texture Studies, Volume 55, Issue 4, August 2024.
Tribological properties of 19 commercial food products in 6 categories (yogurts, dressings, spreads, porridges, emulsified sauces, and syrups) were investigated. The extended Stribeck curves across the four frictional regimes (the static, boundary, mixed, and hydrodynamic regimes) varied depending on the flow behavior, nutritional compositions, and the

Oleo‐Dispersions of Electrospun Cellulose Acetate Butyrate Nanostructures: Toward Renewable Semisolid Lubricants

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, Volume 8, Issue 7, July 2024.
Fine dispersions of electrospun cellulose acetate butyrate nanostructures in castor oil are formulated with the goal of being implemented as sustainable semi‐solid lubricants. A spectrum of nanoarchitectures, including porous nanostructures, capable of structuring oil are obtained by tuning the physicochemical and rheological properties of the spinning

Large‐Scale Numerical Simulation of the Solid Lubricant Behavior in the Leg Joints of Insects

open access: yesAdvanced Theory and Simulations, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2024.
Semi‐solid lubricant in the insect legs joints is represented by cylindrical fragments with a diameter of ≈1 µm. The results of numerical simulation show that the fragments tend to adhesion and the formation of clumps of different shapes and sizes. Such a system allows maintaining clearance between surfaces while reducing friction and elimination of ...

Theoretical results for fully flooded, elliptical hydrodynamic contacts [PDF]

open access: yes
The influence of the ellipticity parameter and the dimensionless speed, load, and materials parameters on minimum film thickness was investigated.

Basic lubrication equations [PDF]

open access: yes
Lubricants, usually Newtonian fluids, are assumed to experience laminar flow. The basic equations used to describe the flow are the Navier-Stokes equation of motion.

A Fully Implicit Coupled Scheme for Mixed Elastohydrodynamic Problems on Co-Allocated Grids

open access: yesLubricants
In the modeling of elastohydrodynamic lubrication problems considering mixed friction, strongly coupled dependencies occur due to piezo-viscous effects and asperities, which can make a numerical solution exceptionally difficult.
